REGULAR MEETING APRIL 10, 2000 <br />REQUESTS TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTIES DENIED - FREMONT STREET <br />In a letter to the Board, Mrs. Johnnie Lee Mae, 1930 North Elmer, South Bend, Indiana, requested <br />approval to purchase the following City -owned lots on Fremont Street: <br />Key Nos. 182100-3778, 182100-3780, 182100-3782, 182100-3784, 182100-3786, 182100- <br />3792 and 182100-3794. <br />In addition, Mrs. Leona McCoy, 912 Greenview, South Bend, Indiana, requested approval to purchase <br />two (2) lots on Fremont Street; Key No. 182100-3774 and 182100-3776. Community and Economic <br />Development recommended that the properties not be sold, as they are listed as a park. Upon a <br />motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the requests were denied. <br />REQUEST TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED PROPERTIES DENIED - BURNS STREET <br />In a letter to the Board, Mr. James Sharpe, Aay's Rent -All company Inc., requested approval to <br />purchase 1043 and 1047 Burns Street. Ms. Jennifer Mielke, Planning, Community and Economic <br />Development recommended that the City should retain ownership of the land, as the Northeast <br />Neighborhood is in the process of completing a development plan for the area around the Five Points. <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Roemer, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the request was denied. <br />FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE ALLEYS <br />Ms. Roemer indicated that the Common Council has submitted to the Board a Vacation Petition as <br />completed by Ms. Rita Kopczynski, Near Northwest Neighborhood, Inc.,1005 Portage, South Bend, <br />Indiana to vacate the following alleys: <br />The first east/west alley north of Lincolnway west between Cottage Grove Avenue and the <br />first north/south alley east of Cottage Grove Avenue, the first east/west alley south of Lindsey <br />between the first north/south alley west of Scott Street and Scott Street, the first and third <br />east/west alleys south of Lindsey Street between Scott Street and the first north/south alley <br />east of Scott Street and the first east/west alley south of Lindsey Street between Leland <br />Avenue and the first north/south alley east of Leland Avenue. <br />Ms. Roemer advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this <br />Vacation Petition from the Area Plan Commission, Police Department, Fire Department, Sanitation, <br />Department ofEconomic Development and the Department ofPublic Works. Therefore, Ms. Roemer <br />made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning <br />this Vacation Petition. Therefore, Ms. Roemer <br />made a motion that the Board send a favorable recommendation to the Common Council concerning <br />this Vacation Petition. Mr. Inks seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - BLOCK PARTY - NORTH ST. <br />PETER FROM SOUTH BEND AVENUE TO SORIN AVENUE <br />Ms. Roemer stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division ofEngineering, <br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. <br />Anthony Diebold, 610 North St. Peter, South Bend, Indiana to conduct the above referred to block <br />party, on April 15, 2000, from 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded <br />
