REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 8, 2001 ; <br />�e <br />Quotation was submitted by Mr. Mark Nagle n <br />QUOTATION: $33,500.00 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above Quotations were <br />referred to the Century Center for review and recommendation. <br />AWARD QUOTATION - BLACKTHORN OFFICE PARK - LOT IA ACCESS DRIVE - <br />PROJECT NO. 101-049 <br />Mr. Jason Durr, Engineer, advised the Board that on September 24, 2001, quotations were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those quotations, Mr. Durr <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc., 24358 State Road 23, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $44,527.50. <br />Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the quotation be <br />awarded as outlined above. Mr. Inks seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - LEEPER PARK/RIVERSIDE DRIVE - PARKING IMPROVEMENTS - PROJECT <br />NO. 101-035 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on October 4, 2001, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Gilot recommends that <br />the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Rieth Riley <br />Construction Company, 25200 State Road 23, South Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $99,533.96. <br />Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded <br />as outlined above. Mr. Inks seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - INDIANA AVENUE/MIAMI STREET INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS - <br />PROJECT NO. 101-032 <br />Mr. Carl P. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on October 4, 2001, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Gilot recommends that <br />the Board award the contract to Selge Construction Company, Inc., 2833 South 11' Street, Niles, <br />Michigan, in the amount of $69,628.00. Therefore, Mr. Inks made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Littrell seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO PURCHASE VEHICLE - ONE (1) 2002 CHEVROLET IMPALA <br />WITH POLICE PACKAGE <br />Mr. Matthew Chlebowski, Director, Central Services, requested permission to award one (1) 2002 <br />Chevrolet 2002 Impala with Police Package from Gates Chevrolet, 401 South Lafayette, South Bend, <br />Indiana, in the amount of $19,681.00. Three quotations were obtained from Gates Chevrolet, Pine <br />Chevrolet and Harbor Chevrolet. The price from Gates Chevrolet for a 2001 vehicle was <br />$18,893.00, but they cannot be obtained any longer. Mr. Chlebowski recommends that the Board <br />approve the purchase of the above referred to vehicle to Gates Chevrolet, 401 South Lafayette, South <br />Bend, Indiana, in the amount of $19,681.00. Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Inks seconded the <br />motion which carried. <br />FILING OF SAFETY REPORTS - DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />The Division of Environmental Services and Street Department submitted Safety Reports for <br />September 2001. Environmental gave an oral report, and will submit the hard copy at the next <br />meeting. These reports will reflect injuries/accidents for each month and provide for a comparison. <br />There being no further discussion, upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and <br />carried, the reports were accepted and filed. <br />FILING OF MONTHLY REPORT - ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES <br />Mr. Jack Dillon, Director of Environmental Services, submitted an oral report for the Division of <br />Environmental Services, for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, Organic Resources, Solid Waste and <br />Sewer Repair, for the month of September 2001. There being no further discussion, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the report was accepted and filed. <br />
