REGULAR MEETING JULY 9, 2001 approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance of a license. DENY LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: NAME: Mohammad Farhan ADDRESS: 1316 East Calvert STAND TO LOCATED AT: 1013 Portage DATES: July 4, 2001 FOR THE PURPOSE OF: Sale of Fireworks Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police Department, Department of Code Enforcement, and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the above application. The South Bend Fire Department submitted an unfavorable recommendation, as the business was selling to minors. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the above license application was denied. DENY LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: NAME: ADDRESS: STAND TO LOCATED AT: DATES: FOR THE PURPOSE OF: Faisal Al-Absy 1922 K. Street, Lincoln Nebraska 736 Lincolnway West June 22 through August 22, 2001 Sale of Shoes Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police Department„ and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the above application. Additionally provided with the application was a letter of permission from the property owner. The Department of Code Enforcement gave an unfavorable recommendation, due to insufficient parking. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the above license application was denied. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - TRANSIENT MERCHANT Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: NAME: BY: ADDRESS: STAND TO LOCATED AT DATES: FOR THE PURPOSE OF: Kirk Bryan Ba-Boom FIREWORKS 1607 East Jefferson, Mishawaka, Indiana 307 East McKinley June 15 through July 5, 2001 Sale of FIREWORKS Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police Department, Department of Code Enforcement, Building Department and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the above application. Additionally provided with the application was a letter of permission from the property owner. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY - INSTALLATION OF AWNING - 222 SOUTH MICHIGAN Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering, Building Department, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Hank Craft, City Awning, South Bend, Indiana, to install an awning at 222 South Michigan (Heartland). Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved. 1 1 1
