The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />which were found to be sufficient. Littrell, City Engineer, advised the Board that on October 28, 2002, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Gilot recommends that <br />the Board award the contract to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder, Youngs Excavating, <br />Post Office Box 2766, South Bend, Indiana in the amount of $466,332.00. Therefore, Mr. Inks made <br />a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. <br />Littrell seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVAL OF REOUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - TWO (2) MORE <br />OR LESS, 1,500 G.P.M. MOTORIZED PUMPING FIRE APPARATUS <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Fire Chief Luther Taylor, requested permission to advertise for the <br />receipt of bids for the above referred to equipment. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, <br />seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved, <br />subject to City Council action on the appropriation. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER - SOUTH BEND DAM REPAIRS - PHASE I - NORTHERN <br />INDIANA CONSTRUCTION <br />Mr. Gilot advised that Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, has submitted Change Order No. 2 on behalf <br />of Northern Indiana Construction, Post Office Box 133, Mishawaka, Indiana indicating that the <br />Contract amount be increased $61,303.67 for a new Contract sum including this Change Order in <br />the amount of $955,443.00. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, <br />the Change Order was approved. <br />APPROVE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT - SHERIDAN STREET IMPROVEMENTS (RE -BID <br />NILES CONCRETE SAWING & CONSTRUCTION - PROJECT NO. 101-023 <br />Mr. Gilot advised that in accordance with the bid awarded on October 24, 2002, to Niles Concrete <br />sawing & Construction, Post Office Box 1299, Niles, Michigan, in the amount of $140,908.00 for <br />the above referred to project, a Contract in said amount was being submitted for Board approval. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the Contract was approved <br />1 <br />
