<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - NAPIER FROM WALNUT TO
<br />CHESTNUT - BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by Traffic & Lighting, Police
<br />Department, and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Ynetter
<br />Jones, 1204 Thomas Street, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above referred to back -to- school
<br />party on September 15, 2002, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot,
<br />seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT JINGLE BELL RUN/WALK FOR
<br />ARTHRITIS
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by Traffic & Lighting, Police
<br />Department, Fire Department, Park Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Mr. Michael Ford, 300 North Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />conduct the above referred to run/walk on December 7, 2002, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on the
<br />designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried,
<br />the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT WALK FOR HOSPICE
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by Traffic & Lighting, Police
<br />Department, Fire Department, Park Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Mr. Tom Gerard, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct
<br />the above referred to walk on October 13, 2002, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Upon a motion made
<br />by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT WALK-A-THON FOR CHRIST
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by Traffic & Lighting, Police
<br />Department, Fire Department, Park Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Ms. Myrtha McKinney, 1025 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to
<br />conduct the above referred to walk on September 28, 2002, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on the
<br />designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and
<br />carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CONDUCT RILEY HIGH SCHOOL
<br />HOMECOMING PARADE
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by Traffic & Lighting, Police
<br />Department, Fire Department, Park Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a
<br />request as submitted by Dr. James Cohen, Riley High School, 1902 South Fellows, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, to conduct the above referred to parade on September 20, 2002, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
<br />on the designated route as submitted. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell
<br />and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 53-2002 DISPOSAL OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following Resolution was
<br />adopted by the Board of Public Works:
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 53-2002
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS REGARDING THE
<br />RETIREMENT OF "AYRO", A K-9 DOG
<br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Board of Public Works has been advised by the City's Police
<br />Chief that "Ayro", a K-9, is no longer needed by the South Bend Police Department; and
<br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works that "Ayro" is unfit for
<br />the purpose for which he was acquired and is no longer of use to the City of South Bend; and
<br />WHEREAS, Corporal Scott Wilcox, South Bend Police Department, has agreed to care for
<br />"Ayro" at his own expense and to keep him as a house pet and understands that "Ayro" can never
<br />again be used as a Police Dog; and
