<br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 13, 2002
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE ALLEY ENTRANCE TO PARK (EAST
<br />AND NORTH/SOUTH ALLEY - MOTHER'S DAY EVENT
<br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of Engineering,
<br />Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Lisa
<br />Barocio, West Side Partnership Center, 617 South Pulaski, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the
<br />above referred to event on May 12, 2002, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mr. Littrell recommended
<br />that Huron be closed at Walnut for traffic control for any event which may be taking place at Pulaski
<br />Park. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation
<br />was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - PARK LANE FROM
<br />LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD TO MAIN STREET - ICE CREAM SOCIAL
<br />Mr. Littrell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Susan Goldstein, James Madison School, 832 Lafayette, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the
<br />above referred to event on May 17, 2002, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr.
<br />Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - FREMONT FROM ROGER TO
<br />BERTRAND - FAMILY HOLIDAY CELEBRATION
<br />Mr. Littrell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Yuneka Brownlee, 2430 Roger Street, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above referred
<br />to block party on May 25, 2002, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks,
<br />seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - SOUTH STREET FROM
<br />LAFAYETTE TO MAIN - STUDEBAKER MUSEUM CITY CELEBRATION
<br />Mr. Littrell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Judy Kish, Studebaker Museum, 525 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the
<br />above referred to event on June 29, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST - POLICE ESCORT FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS
<br />Mr. Littrell stated that favorable recommendations have been received by the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted
<br />by Ms. Marilyn Palmer, Special Olympics, Post Office Box 643, Mishawaka, Indiana, for a police
<br />escort for the Special Olympics on June 6, 2002, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by
<br />Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION TO ENCROACH ONTO PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY -
<br />INSTALLATION OF SIGN - 520 WEST WESTERN
<br />Mr. Littrell advised that the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations from the Division of
<br />Engineering, Police Department, Building Commissioner and the Redevelopment Design Review
<br />Committee for the installation of a sign at 520 West Western. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell,
<br />seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the recommendation was approved.
<br />APPROVAL OF AUTHORIZATION FOR ENTRY UPON PUBLIC PROPERTY FOR DRILLING
<br />PURPOSES - SOIL BORINGS IN THE 4000 BLOCK OF WESTERN AVENUE
<br />Mr. Littrell stated an Authorization for Entry Upon Public Property has been submitted to the Board
<br />for approval. This authorization allows entry upon property along the north side of the 4000 block
<br />of Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, for the purpose of soil borings and the installation of a
<br />monitoring well. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the
<br />Authorization was approved.
<br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO.28-2002 - DISPOSAL OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY
<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following Resolution was
<br />adopted by the Board of Public Works:
