REGULAR MEETING MARCH 25, 2002 APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO CONDUCT PUBLIC AUCTION - UNCLAIMED PROPERTY - SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT In a letter to the Board, Services Division Chief Richard Kilgore, South Bend Police Department, requested permission to conduct a public auction to dispose of unclaimed property as allowed by law, on April 3, 2002, in the garage area of the rear of 701 West Sample Street by Kaser's Auction Service, for miscellaneous unclaimed property. The Contract from Kaser's Auction Service is forthcoming. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the request was approved. APPROVAL OF ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL HOLIDAYS - 2002 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE - CITY OF SOUTH BEND In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mary Ann Myers, Mayor's Office, requested permission to add two (2) optional holidays to the 2002 Holiday Schedule, Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah. These optional holidays are to be used the same way as the current list - employees may choose one (1) additional holiday from the holidays listed. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the request was approved. APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: NAME: Centre Township Lions Club BY: Thomas Lesniak ADDRESS: 61455 Druid Lane STAND TO LOCATED AT: Scottsdale Mall DATES: November 24 through December 24, 2002 FOR THE PURPOSE OF: Sale of Christmas Trees Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police Department, Department of Code Enforcement, and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the above application. Additionally provided with the application was a letter of permission from the property owner. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above license application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. APPROVAL OF SCRAP METAL DEALERS/JUNK DEALERS/RECYCLING OPERATIONS/TRANSFER STATIONS Mr. Gilot stated that the following applications have been received: South Bend Waste Paper 1519 South Franklin South Bend, Indiana 46613 Indiana Iron d/b/a/ U.S. Scrap & Recycling 1700 South Lafayette South Bend, Indiana 46619 South Bend Iron and Metal 429 West Indiana Avenue South Bend, Indiana 46613 It was noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Water Works, Fire Department and the Department of Code Enforcement. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the License Applications were approved. ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 19-2002 - A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF THE ISSUANCE OF SCRAP METAL/JUNK DEALERS/RECYCLING OPERATIONS AND TRANSFER STATION LICENSES FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2002 Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the following Resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works:
