REGULAR MEETING MARCH 25, 2002 <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO CONDUCT PUBLIC AUCTION - UNCLAIMED PROPERTY - <br />SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />In a letter to the Board, Services Division Chief Richard Kilgore, South Bend Police Department, <br />requested permission to conduct a public auction to dispose of unclaimed property as allowed by <br />law, on April 3, 2002, in the garage area of the rear of 701 West Sample Street by Kaser's Auction <br />Service, for miscellaneous unclaimed property. The Contract from Kaser's Auction Service is <br />forthcoming. Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the request was <br />approved. <br />APPROVAL OF ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL HOLIDAYS - 2002 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE - CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Mary Ann Myers, Mayor's Office, requested permission to add <br />two (2) optional holidays to the 2002 Holiday Schedule, Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah. These <br />optional holidays are to be used the same way as the current list - employees may choose one (1) <br />additional holiday from the holidays listed. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. <br />Inks and carried, the request was approved. <br />APPROVE LICENSE APPLICATION - OPEN AIR STAND <br />Mr. Gilot advised that the following license application has been received: <br />NAME: Centre Township Lions Club <br />BY: Thomas Lesniak <br />ADDRESS: 61455 Druid Lane <br />STAND TO LOCATED AT: Scottsdale Mall <br />DATES: November 24 through December 24, 2002 <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF: Sale of Christmas Trees <br />Mr. Gilot further advised that favorable recommendations have been received from the Police <br />Department, Department of Code Enforcement, and the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting for the above <br />application. Additionally provided with the application was a letter of permission from the property <br />owner. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above license <br />application was approved and referred to the Deputy Controller's Office for issuance. <br />APPROVAL OF SCRAP METAL DEALERS/JUNK DEALERS/RECYCLING <br />OPERATIONS/TRANSFER STATIONS <br />Mr. Gilot stated that the following applications have been received: <br />South Bend Waste Paper <br />1519 South Franklin <br />South Bend, Indiana 46613 <br />Indiana Iron d/b/a/ <br />U.S. Scrap & Recycling <br />1700 South Lafayette <br />South Bend, Indiana 46619 <br />South Bend Iron and Metal <br />429 West Indiana Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana 46613 <br />It was noted that favorable recommendations have been received by the Water Works, Fire <br />Department and the Department of Code Enforcement. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, <br />seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the License Applications were approved. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 19-2002 - A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF THE ISSUANCE OF <br />SCRAP METAL/JUNK DEALERS/RECYCLING OPERATIONS AND TRANSFER STATION <br />LICENSES FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2002 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the following Resolution was <br />adopted by the Board of Public Works: <br />
