0306 <br />PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION AUGUST 21, 2003 <br />The Public Agenda Session of the Board of Public Works was convened at 8:05 a.m. on Thursday, <br />August 21, 2003, by Board President Gary A. Gilot, with Mr. Carl P. Littrell present. Mr. Donald <br />E. Inks was not present. Also present was Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. Board of Public Works <br />Clerk Angela Jacob presented the Board with a proposed agenda of items presented by the public <br />and by City staff. <br />Board members discussed the following item(s) from that list <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the following item was <br />added to the agenda: <br />- Open/Read Bid - Oliver Plow Works Demolition - Phase III <br />Mr. Gilot read a bid from Bianchi Industries, which was opened in error by an employee of <br />the front office staff on Friday, August 19, 2003. The Secretary submitted a statement stating <br />the bid had arrived by Federal Express, was opened by error and placed in the Clerk's in -box <br />by mistake. It was also noted that said bid was the highest bid. <br />BIANCHI INDUSTRIAL SERVICES <br />Base Bid <br />$975,000.00 <br />Alt. # 1 <br />Add <br />$ 400.00 <br />Alt. #2 <br />Add <br />$ 14.00 <br />Alt. #3 <br />Add <br />$ .90 For a Total of <br />Alt. #4 <br />Add <br />$ .70 For a Total of <br />Unit Price <br />$ 35.00 <br />$108,000.00 <br />$ 84,000.00 <br />- Bid Award - One (1) Single Axle Dump Truck w/14' Bid <br />Mr. Matt Chlebowski, Central Services, stated this was not the lowest bid, and presented a <br />letter discussing the award. <br />- Authorization for Entry Upon Public Property - Alt & Witzig <br />The Board asked the Clerk to notify all companies requesting an Entry Upon Public Property <br />for Drilling Purposes to forward the results of soil borings to the Division of Engineering. <br />- Supplemental Agreement - Renovation of Parking Structures <br />This Supplemental adds testing to the parking structure renovations. <br />- Proposal - Development of Maintenance Excellence <br />Mr. Jack Dillon, Environmental Services, stated this proposal will develop a master plan for <br />the Wastewater Treatment Plant. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO _CLOSE STREET - LONGFELLOW FROM <br />SUNNYSIDE TO MISHAWAKA AVENUE - BLOCK PARTY <br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by Traffic & Lighting, Police <br />Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Meredith <br />Allsop, 1229 Longfellow, SoLth Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above referred to block parry on <br />August 23, 2003, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by <br />Mr. Littrell and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - SHERMAN FROM VASSAR <br />TO PORTAGE - VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION GATHERING <br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by Traffic & Lighting, Police <br />Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Ms. Jennifer <br />Edwards,1007 Portage, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the abo . e referred to block parry on August <br />23, 2003, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Upon a motion made by�Zr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell <br />and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF RECOMMENDATION - TO CLOSE STREET - PARKOVASH FROM <br />HILLCREST TO LAFAYETTE - NEIGHBORHOOD PICNIC <br />Mr. Gilot stated that favorable recommendations have been received by Traffic & Lighting, Police <br />Department and the City Attorney's office, in reference to a request as submitted by Mr. Al Kirsits, <br />722 Marquette, South Bend, Indiana, to conduct the above referred to block party on August 23, <br />
