<br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Gilot and carried, the above bids were referred
<br />to the Division of Engineering for review and recommendation.
<br />INTENT TO AWARD BID - NEW HEADQUARTERS AND TRAINING FACILITIES - SOUTH
<br />BEND POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS - PROJECT NO. 103-020
<br />Mr. Steve Kromkowski, DLZ Indiana, advised the Board that on April 22, 2003, at a Special Meeting
<br />of the Board, bids were received and opened for the above referred to project. After reviewing those
<br />bids, Mr. Kromkowski recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsible and
<br />responsive bidder, Casteel Construction, 23186 West Ireland Road, South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
<br />Base Bid: $14,870,000.00 - Police and Fire
<br />Alternates: $ 370,000.00 - South Bend Fire Department (Project A)
<br />Includes Alternates 1,2,3,7,8,9,10,11,12,14 and 15
<br />$ 1,148,500.00 - South Bend Police Department (Project B)
<br />Includes Alternates 1,3,5,6,8,9,10,11 and 12
<br />Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion that the recommendation for an intent to award be approved,
<br />subject to bond financing. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which carried.

<br />Mr. Larry Magliozzi, Planning, advised the Board that on April 28, 2003, bids were received and
<br />opened for the above referred to properties. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Magliozzi recommends
<br />that the Board award the bids to the highest bidders as follows:
