135 <br />REGULAR MEETING APRIL 28, 2003 <br />AWARD BIDS - CHEMICALS - WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT <br />Mr. Bob Toppel, Wastewater Treatment Plant, advised the Board that on April 14,2003, bids were <br />received and opened for the above referred to chemicals. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Toppel <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsible and responsive bidders as <br />follows: <br />POLYDYNE INC. <br />1 Chemical Plant Road <br />Riceboro, Georgia 31323 <br />60,000 Lbs. Dry Polymer Floc Clarifloc $1.00 $60,000.00 <br />EAGLEBROOK, INC. <br />4801 Southwick Drive <br />Matteson, Illinois 60443 <br />40,000 Gallons 20-30% Ferrous Chloride $.1450 $5,800.00 <br />JCI JONES CHEMICALS INC. <br />600 Bethel Avenue <br />Beech Grove, Indiana 46107 <br />Chlorine $341.00/Ton <br />Sulfur Dioxide $272.00/Ton <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the bids were awarded as <br />outlined above. <br />AWARD BID - BIO-SOLIDS TRUCKING <br />Mr. Bob Toppel, Environmental Services, advised the Board that on April 14, 2003, bids were <br />received and opened for the above referred to service. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Toppel <br />recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, JDS <br />Trucking, 19039 Glendale Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />JDS TRUCKING INC. <br />19039 Glendale Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana 46637 <br />Sludge for Land Application Monday through Friday $57.00 <br />Saturday $67.00 <br />Therefore, Mr. Gilot made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded <br />as outlined above. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which carried. <br />AWARD BID - TWO HUNDRED SIXTY (260) CLEAR COMMAND AMPLIFIER KIT/NINETY <br />TWO (92) PTT LAPEL KITS FOR RADIO INTERFACE - SOUTH BEND FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Fire Chief Luther Taylor advised the Board that on April 14, 2003, bids were received and opened <br />for the above referred to equipment. After reviewing those bids, Chief Taylor recommends that the <br />Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, 5-Alarm Fire and Safety, <br />704 Oak Street, Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, in the amount of $119,864.68. Therefore, Mr. Gilot made <br />a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. <br />Littrell seconded the motion which carried. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS - SALE OF ABANDONED <br />VEHICLES <br />Ms. Kathy Eli, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for the sale of <br />approximately eleven (11) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at Super Auto Salvage <br />Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was noted that all vehicles have been <br />stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks had been run for auto theft and the owners <br />
