REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 24, 2005 D 3 4 5 <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot,; seconded by Mr. Littrell, and carried, the above bids <br />were referred to Code Enforcement` for review and recommendation. <br />ACCEPT PROPOSAL — CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR PHASE I AND PHASE II <br />ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL <br />CONSULTANT SERVICES FOR PROJECTS FUNDED BY SOUTH BEND'S U.S <br />EPA BROWNFIELDS (U.S. EPA GRANT) <br />Ms. Ann Kolata, Community and Economic Development, advised the board that on <br />September 21, 2005, proposals were received and opened for the above referred to <br />project. After reviewing those proposals, Ms. Kolata recommends that the Board accept <br />the Proposal of Hull & Associates, Inc. and Q.E.P.I. in the amount of $200,000.00 for site <br />assessments, and an amount not to exceed $27,030.00 for revolving loan fund grant. <br />Therefore, Mr. Inks made a motion that the recommendation be accepted and the <br />proposal be accepted as outlined above. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion, which carried. <br />AWARD BID — ONE (1) 2006 CHEVROLET 3/4 TON TWO WHEEL DRIVE PICK-UP <br />TRUCK — PARK DEPARTMENT (PARK & RECREATION FUND) <br />Mr. Lou Grounds, Central Services, advised the board that on October 10, 2005, bids <br />were received and opened for the above referred to equipment. After reviewing those <br />bids, Mr. Grounds recommends that the Board award the contract to the lowest, <br />responsive and responsible bidder, Gates Chevrolet, 401 South Lafayette, South Bend, <br />Indiana, in the amount of $16,868.00. Therefore, Mr. Inks made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted and the bid be awarded as outlined above. Mr. Littrell <br />seconded the motion, which carried. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS — <br />IRELAND/MIAMI & CHIPPEWA BASIN IMPROVEMENTS (ERSKINE GOLF <br />COURSE DRAINAGE) & TITLE SHEET — PROJECT NO. 105-008 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, requested permission to <br />advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Therefore, upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks, the request to advertise was <br />approved, as well as the Title Sheet when it becomes available. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR RECEIPT OF BIDS — SALE OF <br />ABANDONED VEHICLES <br />Ms. Kathy Eli, Department of Code Enforcement, requested permission to advertise for <br />the sale of approximately fourteen (14) abandoned vehicles, which are being stored at <br />Super Auto Salvage Corporation, 3300 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana. It was <br />noted that all vehicles have been stored more than fifteen (15) days, identification checks <br />had been run for auto theft and the owners and lienholders notified. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER — CSO MONITORING PROJECT — GRIPP INC. — <br />PROJECT NO. 105-045 (SEWAGE WORKS) <br />Mr. Gilot advised that Mr. Patrick Henthorn, Environmental Services, has submitted <br />Change Order No. 2 on behalf of Gripp, Inc. 1022 West Kendall Court, Westville, <br />Indiana, indicating that the Contract amount be increased $14,000.00 for a new Contract <br />sum including this Change Order in the amount of $188,399.00. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. Inks, seconded by Mr. Littrell, and carried, the Change Order was approved. <br />APPROVE CHANGE ORDER — PORTAGE AVENUE INTERSECTION <br />IMPROVEMENTS — MCINTYRE JONES INC. — PROJECT NO 105-023B (COIT) <br />Mr. Gilot advised that Mr. Toy Villa, Engineering, has submitted Change Order No. 1 on <br />behalf of McIntyre Jones, Inc., indicating that the Contract amount be increased <br />$2,804.00 for a new Contract sum including this Change Order in the amount of <br />$32,951.03. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks, and carried, the <br />Change Order was approved. <br />
