r t "~ <br />... +~t <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />NOVEMBER 29, 2006 <br />Alford, Bruce J. BonDurant and Patrick D. Cottrell present. Also present were Police Chief <br />Thomas Fautz, Fire Chief Luther Taylor and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13`h Floor, County City <br />Building, South Bend, Indiana. <br />ACCEPT MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Cottrell, and seconded by Ms. Dempsey, the minutes of the Public <br />Agenda Session, Executive Session, and Regular meetings of the Board held on November 8, <br />2006, along with a Special Meeting ~ of November 20, 2006 were accepted, with the noted <br />corrections. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE PROMOTIONS <br />- CHRISTOPHER CAMPARONE <br />- TIMOTHY CICHOWICZ <br />- GERY MULLINS <br />-ANTHONYPEARSON <br />-BILLY PELLETIER <br />- CHRISTOPHER SLAGER <br />Chief Fautz recommended that Patrolmen Christopher Camparone, Timothy Cichowicz, Gery <br />Mullins, Anthony Pearson, Billy Pelletier, and Christopher Slager be promoted to the rank of <br />Corporal effective December 5, 2006. Chief Fautz stated in a letter to the Board that all of the <br />candidates have met the requirements of the application process of the South Bend Police <br />Department. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. Cottrell and carried, the <br />recommended promotions were approved. <br />CORRECTION TO LEAVE OF ABSENCE LETTER -CORPORAL ANNE SCHELLINGER <br />Chief Fautz requested that the Board approve an extended medical leave of absence for Corporal <br />Anne Schellinger of thirty-three (33) calendar days from November 24, 2006 to December 26, <br />2006. Chief Fautz noted that the correction to the original Leave of Absence letter was to <br />account for seven (7) vacation days that were not accounted for in the original Leave of Absence. <br />Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. Cottrell, and carried, the Extended <br />Leave of Absence was accepted as presented. <br />ACCEPT AND FILE DONATIONS TO THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Thomas Fautz advised the Board of generous donations made to the South Bend Police <br />Department by organizations and businesses in our community. There being no further <br />discussion, upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. Cottrell, and carried, the <br />donations were accepted and filed. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 65-2006 -HOLIDAY SCHEDULE <br />Chief Fautz stated that this was the normal Police Department holiday schedule. Upon a motion <br />made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. Cottrell and carried, the following Resolution was <br />approved and adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 65-2006 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is <br />empowered by law to establish rules and regulations for the South Bend Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the City of South Bend that the Police Department <br />holidays be set with certainty. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Safety of the City of <br />South Bend: <br />SECTION I. That for all sworn police officers who are assigned to work as their regular <br />schedule, 5 on and 2 off, Monday through Friday, the following holidays shall apply: <br />
