<br />The maximum time any officer maybe assigned to special duty shall be one year; <br />2. <br />3 <br />4. <br />The Chief shall have the power to reassign that officer from special duty to his <br />regular assignment at any time; <br />The Chief shall advise the Board of all such assignments or reassignments at its <br />first regular meeting after the assignment; <br />The Chief shall advise the Board of the performance of each officer serving a <br />special assignment; <br />5. In accordance with I.C. 36-8-3-7 personnel assigned to perform a duty of the rank <br />of lieutenant or sergeant shall be paid the same rate per diem as other lieutenants <br />and sergeants in the South Bend Police Department while still assigned; <br />6. Persons considering special assignment as a sergeant or lieutenant shall be <br />entitled to wear the insignia of that rank and otherwise be referred to by that title; <br />7. Nothing in this resolution or any actions taken under it shall be construed to give <br />the authority to the Chief to make promotions, such power shall continue to reside <br />exclusively in the Board of Public Safety and can only be exercised by the Board <br />of Public Safety at an open meeting. <br />8. Jacob, Clerk <br />ACCEPT SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSION -TERESA ERNSBERGER <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Thomas Fautz recommended that the following Special <br />Police Commission be issued to Ms. Teresa Ernsberger for a Civilian Volunteer Officer, <br />effective October 18, 2006, until revoked. Chief Fautz stated this Commission does not have the <br />authority to be armed nor the powers of arrest. Upon a motion made by Mr. Cottrell, seconded <br />by Mr. BonDurant and carried, the Special Police Commission was accepted. <br />EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH -SERGEANT LEE ROSS <br />Sergeant Lee Ross was selected as Employee of the Month. The award is to recognize officers <br />or civilian employees on the South Bend Police Department who have demonstrated actions <br />noted by supervisors or citizens from both a professional law enforcement position and in <br />support of the community policing efforts with citizens of South Bend. Chief Fautz noted <br />Sergeant Ross has done a tremendous job on the police force. There being no further discussion, <br />the recommendation was accepted and filed. <br />FILING OF AMENDED MONTHLY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS REPORT -AUGUST 2006 <br />Chief Thomas Fautz submitted an amended copy of the August stats. The previous report had <br />incorrect year-to-date numbers. There being no objections, the following amended report was <br />accepted for filing: <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
