G~~8 PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION SEPTEMBER 6.2006 The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:03 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 with President Jesusa Rodriguez. Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Donald Alford, Patrick D. Cottrell and Bruce J. BonDurant were present. Also present were Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar, Police Chief Thomas Fautz, and Fire Chief Luther Taylor. The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13t" Floor County City Building, South Bend, Indiana. Board members discussed the following item(s) from that list: - Minutes Board Members reviewed the minutes and found the following errors: Pte, under the title "Hearing -Charge 06-06", first sentence, the word "the" should be added before "Board". Page 84, under the title "Contract -Emergency Medical Services", fifth sentence, the word "Lift" should be changed to "Life". Page 84, under the title "Contract -Emergency Medical Services", third sentence, "twelve (12)" should be changed to "seven (7)". Page 86, under the title "Employee of the Month", fifth sentence, the word "burglary" should be changed to "robbery". Page under the title "Approval of Agreement", fifth sentence, the word "Lift" should be changed to "Life". - Resolution no. 44-2006 -Fire Department Application Process Mr. Bodnar noted Resolution 44-2006 would be added to agenda. Chief Taylor apologized for the lateness of the submittal. Mr. Bodnar stated in the past the Fire Department was giving enhancements of 1-2 points for a) war veterans and b) South Bend resident of 3-5 years. The State legislature passed an amendment giving preferences to individuals who have lost a parent in the line of duty as an Indiana police officer or firefighter. Resolution 44-2006 recommends a two (2) point enhancement for a war veteran; one (1) point enhancement for an applicant who has passed all tests (oral and written) and mother or father who has died in the line of duty and one (1) point enhancement for a person who has resided within the corporate limits of South Bend at least three (3) of the five (5) years prior to the date of the agility test. Chief Taylor stated there is a maximum of three (3) points. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Board,.
