G~~8 <br />PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION SEPTEMBER 6.2006 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:03 a.m. on Wednesday, <br />September 6, 2006 with President Jesusa Rodriguez. Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Donald <br />Alford, Patrick D. Cottrell and Bruce J. BonDurant were present. Also present were Board <br />Attorney Thomas Bodnar, Police Chief Thomas Fautz, and Fire Chief Luther Taylor. <br />The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13t" Floor County City <br />Building, South Bend, Indiana. <br />Board members discussed the following item(s) from that list: <br />- Minutes <br />Board Members reviewed the minutes and found the following errors: <br />Pte, under the title "Hearing -Charge 06-06", first sentence, the word "the" should <br />be added before "Board". <br />Page 84, under the title "Contract -Emergency Medical Services", fifth sentence, the <br />word "Lift" should be changed to "Life". <br />Page 84, under the title "Contract -Emergency Medical Services", third sentence, <br />"twelve (12)" should be changed to "seven (7)". <br />Page 86, under the title "Employee of the Month", fifth sentence, the word "burglary" <br />should be changed to "robbery". <br />Page under the title "Approval of Agreement", fifth sentence, the word "Lift" should <br />be changed to "Life". <br />- Resolution no. 44-2006 -Fire Department Application Process <br />Mr. Bodnar noted Resolution 44-2006 would be added to agenda. Chief Taylor <br />apologized for the lateness of the submittal. Mr. Bodnar stated in the past the Fire <br />Department was giving enhancements of 1-2 points for a) war veterans and b) South <br />Bend resident of 3-5 years. The State legislature passed an amendment giving <br />preferences to individuals who have lost a parent in the line of duty as an Indiana police <br />officer or firefighter. Resolution 44-2006 recommends a two (2) point enhancement for <br />a war veteran; one (1) point enhancement for an applicant who has passed all tests (oral <br />and written) and mother or father who has died in the line of duty and one (1) point <br />enhancement for a person who has resided within the corporate limits of South Bend at <br />least three (3) of the five (5) years prior to the date of the agility test. Chief Taylor stated <br />there is a maximum of three (3) points. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board,.
