Now leasing small commercial spaces, Portage <br />Place is growing into a vital commercial node within the <br />neighborhood. <br />The Birthday Chair - Mike Keen <br />Built in 2019, The Birthday Chair is a playful project intended to <br />change the perception of the neighborhood and inspire incremental <br />growth within the community. <br />707 Rex Street - Pre-Approved Duplex, Tom Bard <br />This is the first non-subsidized duplex in the neighborhood since <br />the 1940s. After relocating from Portland OR, Tom Bard built this <br />home to diversify housing options in the neighborhood. <br />821 Cushing St - NNN Quadplex, Kathy Schuth <br />This 4-unit rental building is part of NNN Inc.’s decision to build <br />multifamily rental units in addition to traditional homes for income <br />qualified sale. <br />907 Portage Ave - Portage Ave Tiny Homes, Mike Keen <br />These tiny homes are built using the New Energy Homes high <br />performance building envelope which is ~70% more energy <br />efficient than standard construction. They have thin film solar panels <br />glued to the metal roof. <br />701 Harrison Ave - Duplex + ADU, Kathy Schuth <br />This 2-unit rental building is part of NNN Inc.’s decision to build <br />rental units in addition to traditional homes for income qualified sale. <br />Increasing the diversity of available units (i.e. rental vs for-sale) <br />supports the mission of housing accessibility in the neighborhood. <br />722-728 Harrison Ave - Pre-Approved Single Family <br />Homes, Tina Patton <br />Cross Community, Inc., is a non-profit Community Development <br />Corporation (CDC) that provides affordable housing options and <br />financial literacy support for aspiring homeowners. As part of that <br />effort they’ve partnered with Kingdom Life Christian Cathedral to <br />both rehab and construct new housing in the neighborhood. <br />620 Sherman Ave - Sherman Duplexes, Jordan <br />Richardson and Tony Ruiz <br />The combined efforts of Jordan Richardson and Tony Ruiz, Inner City <br />Development LLC is a small-scale developer that is committed to <br />community-first projects, equitable homeownership, and <br />sustainable neighborhood growth. <br />803 Cottage Grove Ave - House + ADU, Willow Wetherall <br />Willow Wetherall originally moved to the neighborhood to purchase <br />a house rehabbed by NNN Inc. As a member of an inter-generational <br />household, she recently purchased two additional houses next door <br />to renovate with her mother and daughter.
