<br /> <br />SBBPC <br />OUTH END OARD OF ARK OMMISSIONERS <br />RM <br />EGULAR EETING <br />O20,2008 <br />CTOBER <br /> <br />The Board of Park Commissioners of the Park District of the City of South Bend, Indiana met on <br />Monday the 20th of October at the O’Brien Administration & Recreation Center, 321 E. Walter <br />St., South Bend, Indiana for its regular meeting. Notice of the date, time and place of the meeting <br />were duly given as required by law. <br /> <br />Park Board members present were as follows: <br />Mr. Robert Henry, President <br />Mr. Robert Goodrich, Vice President <br />Dr. Thomas Kelly <br />Mr. Garrett Mullins <br /> <br />Park Board members absent were as follows: <br /> None <br /> <br />Staff members present: Phil St. Clair, Superintendent; Bill Carleton, Fiscal Officer; Susan <br />O’Connor, Recreation Director; Randy Nowacki, Director of Golf Operations; Terry DeRosa, <br />Zoo Director; Richard Payton, Development Director; Mike Dyszkiewicz, Maintenance <br />Superintendent; Garry Harrington, Rum Village Nature Center Director; Matthew Moyers, <br />Special Projects Manager; Cheryl Greene, Park Board Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />I.The meeting was called to order by Board President Robert Henry at 4:03 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />II.The first order of business was the interviewing of interested citizens. <br /> <br /> <br />1.Botanical Society- Martha Lewis <br />Ms Lewis reported that the Botanical Society hired Ginger Valley to spray the plants in <br />the conservatory. <br />The Botanical Society is restoring the fountain in the entrance area. <br /> <br />2.Mr. Bill Schalliol of Economic Development discussed the HOK plan for the stadium area. <br /> <br /> <br />III.The next order of business was unfinished business. <br /> <br />1. Public Hearing on Lease of Park Property <br /> Mr. Goodrich made a motion to that it is in the best interest of the Park Department to <br />lease the property rather than to sell it. Dr. Kelly seconded the motion and it was passed. <br /> Ms. Greene explained the process relating to the leasing of property. <br /> President Henry opened a public hearing on the lease of the Rum Village property. <br /> No one spoke in opposition to the lease. <br /> Mr. Eric Von Deck, attorney for Charles Hayes, Inc., spoke in favor of the lease. <br /> There being no one else wishing to speak, President Henry closed the public hearing. <br /> A sealed bid was received from Charles Hayes, Inc.
