Re: A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL
APPOINTING SAVINO RIVE RA JR.TO FILL VACANCY
ON THE COMMUNITY POLICE REVIEW BOARD
Dear Chairperson Gooden-Rodgers:
There is currently an open position for the third district member of the
Community Police Review Board. As the Third District Representative of
the Council, I nominate Savino Rivera Jr. to fill that position.
I ask for this proposed resolution to be placed on the agenda for
consideration by the Community Relations Committee at its October 12,
2026, meeting and the full Council meeting later that same evening.

A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL APPOINTING
S A V I N O RIVE RA JR. TO FILL A VACANCY ON THE COMMUNITY POLICE
REVIEW BOARD
WHEREAS, Sec. 2-12.1.1(a)(4) of the South Bend Municipal Code addressing the
Community Police Review Board provides in part: "If a Member is unable to complete a term
for any reason, a new Member shall be appointed by the Common Council. A new Member shall
reside in the same Councilmanic district as the departing Member;" and
WHEREAS, there is currently a vacant position as the third district member of the
Community Police Review Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of
South Bend appoints Savino Rivera Jr., nominated by Sharon McBride, to fill the position
of the third district member of the Community Police Review Board.
