The roof is of asphalt shingles and the siding is aluminum. The windows are Marvin wood, double-hung full frame replacement windows with aluminum exterior cladding. The inset door features leaded glass sidelights and a paneled transom. SITE VISIT REPORT: N/A STAFF RECOMMENDATION: The existing aluminum siding has an 8” reveal, and the new vinyl siding would have a 7” reveal to more closely resemble the original cedar clapboard. The original siding beneath the aluminum is to be retained and preserved as much as possible during installation of the vinyl. The windows are not original, and there is likely not much historic material remaining, though South Bend Roofing Siding & Window Co would retain historic material found, as possible. The gutter profile would not change, nor would the appearance of the non-historic, non-fuctional shutters. The visual impact of the home would be kept intact. Based on the information provided prior to this public hearing, Staff makes a FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION. STRUCTURE4 Insulation between the wood studs in an exterior wall. Studs create a thermal bridge for heat to escape in winter and enter your home in summer. Because studs can represent up to 25% of the wall surface, it’s like having an entire wall without significant insulation. Structure Home Insulation System covers the entire wall with a thick layer of insulation to prevent thermal bridging. STUDS IN YOUR WALL TRANSFER HEAT. COVERING THEM WITH INSULATION SAVES ENERGY.
