Labor Day holiday schedule for City trash pickup
The City of South Bend has announced that, due to the Labor Day holiday next Monday,
September 6, regular trash collection will occur one day late throughout next week. While Solid
Waste crews normally do not pickup trash on Friday, they will do so on Friday, September 10 to
keep pickup on track for the week. Regularly scheduled pick-up will resume the week of
September 13.
Residents are also reminded that yard waste is still collected each week, on the same day as
regular trash pickup. Yard waste should be bagged and placed curbside for collection. All yard
waste is recycled at the City of South Bend’s Organic Resource Facility.
As a result of the summer storms, residents are still cleaning up branches and limbs from
trees that were damaged during the severe weather. These items will be picked up, for free, if they
are cut and bundled into 4 ft. lengths. If this is not possible, residents can call Solid Waste for a
“special pickup”. This collection does need to be scheduled. Please call the Division of Solid
Waste at 277-8823 for details or if you have questions regarding your day of pickup or any other
concerns.
