PUBLIC WORKS & PROPERTY VACATION <br />FEBRUARY 22, 2016 4:00 P.M. <br />Committee Members Present: Jo M. Broden, Chairperson of the Public Works and Property Vacation <br />Committee, called the meeting to order with one bill up for consideration. <br />Bill 08 -16 — Vacate the first north/south alley west of 29th Street from Mishawaka Ave. <br />Jitin Kain, Dept. of Public Works with offices on the 13th Floor of the County -City Building, <br />served as the presenter for this bill. The Board of Public Works has given this a favorable <br />recommendation. The Board asked the petitioner to look at the turning radiuses at the site and the <br />petitioner did to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. <br />Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski - Farrand asked if Mr. Kain could talk to the Committee <br />about the cross access agreement. <br />Mr. Kain responded that the issue had been resolved. Unfortunately the engineer who worked on <br />this case is tied up in another meeting. <br />Steve Debold, 555 Eastport Centre Drive Valparaiso, IN 46383, are the petitioners for this bill. <br />This is the old River Park Furniture Store. They have met every requirement and satisfaction that. <br />the Board of Public Works requested. The Cross Access Agreement that was asked for was not <br />really needed for this project because of the layout of the road. The vacated alley will be for <br />additional parking on the site. . <br />Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski - Farrand stated the Committee would need something <br />written from the Public Works office to certify that claim that no Cross Access Agreement is <br />needed. <br />Mr. Kain responded that from his standpoint the agreement is not needed and the conversations <br />he has had confirmed that view. Mr. Kain stated if the Committee required it he can have a letter <br />by the Council meeting. <br />There was no one from the public in support or opposition to the bill. <br />
