REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 25,2013 <br /> SECTION V. The designation as an Economic Revitalization Area shall be limited to two (2) <br /> calendar years from the date of the adoption of this Resolution by the Common Council. <br /> SECTION VI. The Common Council hereby determines that the property owner is qualified for <br /> and is granted property tax deduction for a period of(9) nine years as shown by the attachment <br /> pursuant to Indiana Code 6-1.1-12.1-17. <br /> SECTION VII. The Common Council directs the City Clerk to cause notice of the adoption of <br /> this Declaratory Resolution for Real Property Tax Abatement to be published pursuant to Indiana <br /> Code § 5-3-1 and Indiana Code § 6-1.1-12.1-2.5, said publication providing notice of the public <br /> hearing before the Common Council on the proposed confirming of said declaration. <br /> SECTION VIII. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by <br /> the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br /> s/Derek D. Dieter <br /> Member of the Common Council <br /> Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson, Community Investment Committee, reported that <br /> this committee held a Public Hearing on this bill this afternoon and voted to send it to the full <br /> Council with a favorable recommendation. <br /> Kyle Bach, President & CEO, Mecca Companies, Inc., 911 Main St., Indianapolis, Indiana, made <br /> the presentation for this bill. <br /> Mr. Bach: I will keep it really brief, but I am excited to be presenting this proposal today,being <br /> the fact that I grew up in the River Park Neighborhood and after leaving Nuner, went to <br /> Washington High School, "Pride of the West Side." We are here today presenting a$7.5 million <br /> total dollar investment into the community. I am excited about the opportunity of providing off- <br /> campus student housing facilities for students at Indiana University South Bend, and anybody <br /> else who want to partake in our facility. So I want to thank you for your time and I am here to <br /> answer any questions that you might have. <br /> A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br /> There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br /> this Resolution, Councilmember Oliver Davis made a motion to adopt this Resolution. <br /> Councilmember Schey seconded the motion which carried and the Resolution was adopted by a <br /> roll call vote of eight (8) ayes. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 4301-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br /> THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING <br /> CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH <br /> BEND, INDIANA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS 212-220 <br /> WEST EWING AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION <br /> AREA FOR PURPOSES OF A (7) SEVEN-YEAR REAL <br /> PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT FOR DEMBY <br /> ENTERPRISES, LLC <br /> WHEREAS, a petition for real property tax abatement has been filed with the City Clerk <br /> for consideration by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana requesting that the <br /> area commonly known as 212-220 West Ewing, South Bend, Indiana, and which is more <br /> particularly described as follows: <br /> Lots numbered four (4) through forty-eight (48), both inclusive, as shown on the recorded <br /> plat of Stover- Longley Addition to the City of South Bend as platted by Silas E. Longley <br /> and Burton H. Stover, which plat was recorded February 24, 1915 in Plat Book No. 9 at <br /> page 187 in the Recorder's office of St. Joseph County, Indiana. Also the vacated alley <br /> lying South of Lots 4 to 8, inclusive, in said Stover —Longley Addition and the vacated <br /> alley lying East of Lots 28 to 46, inclusive, in said Stover-Longley Addition.
