RESOLUTION NO. I I - g q A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND APPROVING THE ISSUANCE OF LICENSE RENEWALS FOR SCRAP AND JUNI: DEALERS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1984. WHEREAS , the Common Council of the City of South Bend recognizes the contributions that recycling operations such as junk and scrap yards make to the community; and the Council further realizes that such opera- tions must be reasonably regulated in order to minimize any environmental or aesthetic nuisances which may be created by the operations of scrap and junk yards within the City; and WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend has enacted reasonable rules and regulations with regard to the issuance of licenses and the operations of the scrap and junk dealers ; and WHEREAS , in accordance with these rules and regulations , inspec- tions of the scrap and junk yards have been completed by the Department of Code Enforcement and the Fire Department Prevention Bureau, and it has been found that such premises are fit and proper for the maintenance and operation of such a business ; and WHEREAS , the Board of Public Works , at its meetings held on December 27 , 1983 and January 3 , 1984, recommended the renewal of licenses for the various scrap and junk dealers in the City of South Bend by appropriate action of the Common Council . NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows : SECTION I . That the license renewal applications for the following scrap and junk dealers be approved based upon the satisfactory review of the properties by the Department of Code Enforcement and the Fire Department Prevention Bureau, inspections having been made in December, 1983 , and subsequent favorable recommendation by the Board of Public Works : Herbert Alpern-Max Schneider Co . 429 W.
