REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 22, 2015 <br />Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson, Community Investment Committee met this <br />afternoon and send bill 15 -51 to the full Council favorably. <br />Cl Report- Presenter: Chris Fielding, 14" Floor Dept. of Community Investment —This is for an <br />81 room Holiday Inn Express, by Ireland Hospitality, LLC; a subsidiary of JSK Development <br />owned by Mr. Patel. This is again 81 rooms, a $6 million project. This would create fourteen <br />(14) new jobs. This does qualify for a six (6) year tax abatement. Total taxes to be paid over the <br />six (6) years would be $607,000 with total abatement of $446,000. Mr. Feeney will be <br />representing Ireland Hospitality if you have any questions. <br />Petitioner: Mr. Feeney, 715 S. Michigan St., South Bend —This is for a $6 million hotel Holiday <br />Inn Express to be built at the Southeast comer of Ireland and Michigan St, opposite of Texas <br />Roadhouse. The project will employ fourteen (14) full and part-time employees with an estimate <br />payroll of $300,000. The amenities for the hotel include free parking, free breakfast, pool, <br />fitness room, and conference room. If there are any questions I would be happy to answer. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br />this bill, Councilmember Dr. David Varner made a motion to adopt resolution 15 -51. <br />Councilmember Mr. Gavin Ferlic seconded the motion which carried and the Resolution was <br />adopted by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />15 -35 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, RECOMMENDING THAT A TALL <br />GRASS /WEED ABATEMENT PILOT PROGRAM FOCUSING ON <br />PROVIDING YOUTH WITH WORKING OPPORTUNITIES AND LIFE <br />SKILLS TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT BE IMPLEMENTED FOR THE <br />SUMMER OF 2015 <br />Council Attorney Kathy Cekanski- Farrand requested a motion to continue bill 15 -35 to July 13th, <br />2015. So moved by Councilmember Oliver Davis. Councilmember Mr. Gavin Ferlic seconded <br />the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />15 -52 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA APPROVING AN AGREEMENT EXTENDING <br />THE ST JOSEPH COUNTY HOUSING CONSORTIUM AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION THEREOF <br />Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson, Community Investment Committee met this <br />afternoon and send bill 15 -51 to the full Council favorably. <br />Presenter: Pam Meyer, Offices on the 14" Floor Dept. of Community Investment — This <br />resolution will authorize the Mayor to execute documents to renew the housing consortium. This <br />is an inter -local agreement with the cities of South Bend, Mishawaka, and St. Joseph County. <br />The current agreement is set to expire at the end of the year. We are doing this now due to the <br />opposed HUD schedule, where we need to do it before July 1st of every year. Approval and <br />subsequent renewal allows the three jurisdictions to participate in the receipt of allocation in <br />home funds, which are intended to provide housing for low- moderate income individuals. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br />this bill, Councilmember Dr. David Varner made a motion to adopt resolution 15 -52. <br />Councilmember Mr. Gavin Ferlic seconded the motion which carried and the Resolution was <br />adopted by a roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />41 <br />
