FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
November 18, 2008

ST
NOVEMBER 21
Downtown Football Fridays Block Party
CANCELLED

SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
– The Football Fridays Block Party scheduled for this Friday, November 21,
in downtown South Bend has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions. This was to be the final of
six Football Fridays Block Party events where fans gathered to celebrate each home Notre Dame Football
weekend. This year a total of six Football Fridays Block Parties were scheduled. “We are disappointed to
have to make this call,” said Downtown South Bend, Inc. (DTSB) executive director Marco Mariani, “but
due to the snowy and extremely cold forecast, DTSB and the event sponsors felt it best to call off the last
Block Party.”

The 2008 Football Fridays Block Party, located near the College Football Hall of Fame, featured games
and activities hosted by and benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), pre-Block Party flag
football league games on the Hall of Fame’s Gridiron, festive tailgate food and beverages by Upper Deck
Catering along with game day merchandise from the College Football Hall of Fame and live musical
performances by popular regional bands.

“The 2008 Block Party series was a tremendous success,” commented Mariani. “For instance new
activities were added; a Flag Football League organized by downtown businesses, as well as a partnership
with the Muscular Distrophy Association, helping to support their fundraising efforts was also new for
this year. DTSB appreciates the support given by those fans in attendance, our sponsors, vendors and
musical performers.”

Page 1.
