1275 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OLD BUSINESS -- -NONE <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />OCTOBER 14, 1957 <br />Councilman Christman stated that he had received several complaints about smoke from Drewrys. The Council asked the <br />Clerk to advise the Board of Public Works and Safety to direct Sergeant Podell of the Board of Health to investigate <br />the smoke and soot emanating from the chimneys at Drewrys Plant, to see if they are using any sort of air - pollution <br />devices and to make a report back to the Board of Works before October 21, 1957. <br />Mr. Walter White, 1418 North Adams Street, South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Council to request action with <br />regard to the control of burning rubbish within the City. The Clerk was requested to write to the Fire Board of <br />Appeals advising of this complaint and asking that the Board have a meeting and invite Mr. White to attend to in- <br />vestigate the possibility of such action. The Fire Board of Appeals was requested to report the results of their <br />meeting before the October 28, 1957 meeting of the Common C ouncil. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn.
