<br />ORDINANCE
<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM THE GENERAL FUND $75.00 TO OFFICE OF THE CITY JUDGE, ACCOUNT E 13,
<br />PAUPER ATTORNEY, ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR 1956, AND DECLARING
<br />AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY.
<br />The Ordinance was given third reading and lost by a roll call vote of 8 nays, 0 ayes, 1 absent, Mr. Hahn. Upon the
<br />recommendation of Mr. Korpal, it w?s moved by Mr. Carr, and seconded by Mr. Kroll that the Ordinance Committee meet
<br />with the City Attorney and City Judge in order to draft an Ordinance that would cover Pauper Attorney Fees for the
<br />entire year instead of for each individual case. Motion carried.

<br />AND THE MAXIM MOTOR COMPANY OF MIDDLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE MAXIM
<br />CUSTOM BUILT ONE THOUSAND GALLONS PER MINUTE TRIPLE COMBINATION ON MOTORIZED PUMPTING FIRE
<br />APPARATUS FOR $23,899.05.

<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3, 6 and 8 of CHAPTER 7 OF GENERAL ORDINANCE NO. 3709, WHICH IS AN
<br />ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2, 5 and 8 OF ARTICLE II OF ORDINANCE NO. 3312 ADOPTED ON THE 8th
<br />DAY OF JANUARY, 1940.
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Carr made a motion that the
<br />Ordinance be set for public hearing on Monday, January 28th, 1957. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion
<br />carried.
<br />NEW BUSINESS
<br />Councilman Carr made a motion that the Traffic and Transportation Committee meet with the St. Joseph County Commissi,
<br />ers and the officials of the Standard Oil Company relative to rerouting truck traffic away from South Bend Avenue
<br />(Route 23). Councilman Erler seconded the motion. Motion carried.
<br />Councilman Christman requested that legal advertisements be submitted as they should be and not ambiguous as the
<br />previous one was relative to advertising for bids on Fire apparatus.
<br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the Chairman appoint a committee to study ways and means of acquiring a new City
<br />Hall. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. President Korpal appointed the Urban Redevelop-
<br />ment and Housing Committee to work on this matter.
<br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that the Clerk instruct Mr. Sabo, Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety, to
<br />rearrange the desks of the Councilman as they were previously and that the desks should be left in that position at
