4 <br />GULAR MEETING DECEMBER 8TH2 1952 <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR SAFEGUARDING PERSONS AND PROPERTY AND PROMOTING THE WELFARE <br />OF THE PUBLIC: CREATING THE OFFICE OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR AND PRESCRIBING <br />HIS DUTIES: ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.AND FOR ITS <br />INSTALLATION AND REQUIRING CONFORMITY THERENTITH: MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO <br />UNDERTAKE THE INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT WITHOUT A PERMIT THEREFOR, <br />AND CREATING AN ELECTRICAL, EXAMINING BOARD AND A BOARD OF REVIEW AND PRESCRIBING <br />THEIR DUTIES: PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING BY THE ELECTRICAL EXAMINING BOARD OF <br />PERSONS, FIRMS,.AND CORPORATIONS UNDERTAKING THE INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL, <br />EQUIPMENT, AND OPERATORS OF MOVING PICTURE PROJECTORS, AND ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS <br />AND DEALERS IN ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, AND MAAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO UNDERTAKE THE <br />INSTALLATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT OR OPERATION OF MOVING PICTURE PROJECTORS <br />WITHOUT A LICENSE EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED: PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE <br />VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND FARTS OF ORDINANCES <br />IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. <br />8 .42 <br />--The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that <br />the ordinance be referred to the committee on Miscellaneous Business and report back to the Committee of the <br />Whole. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />Mr. Ernest Miller, Traffic Engineer, appeared before the Council and reported his findings at the following <br />locations: ' <br />Armour's, So. Chapin St. Mr. Miller informed the Council that Mr. Ray Andrysiak, City Engineer, wrote a letter <br />to Mr. Jacobs, Branch Manager of Armour's and asked to make changes necessary to alleviate the parking of trucks <br />and traiAers over the public walk in front of their property on So. Chapin St. Mr. Jacobs stated that they have <br />plans for remodeling present dock. <br />Robertson's Warehouse: Mr. Mertians, Assistant Controller, informed Mr. Miller that Robertson's acquired property <br />on the East side between Western and Monroe Sts# to build a larger warehouse. This will eliminate standing of <br />trucks blocking walk when not actually engaged in loading and unloading. <br />Malleable Steel & Range Co.: Mr. Miller talked to Mr. Woolverton who promised that he would insist on parallel <br />parking only while unloading. <br />Radio Equipment Co.: Talked to Mr. Sunderlin, owner, who was rather reluctant to 'cut back in order to take <br />trucks off the street. <br />A & K Food distributor: Talked to Mr. Archer who was not too willing to go along with the idea because of the <br />expense involved. Door would have to be raise€)And widened to take trucks off street. <br />�r <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Traffic Engineer follow up his report and see that some action be <br />taken on the above. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Clerk notify the Board of Works to check on petitions for street <br />lights at Chicago and Lincoln Way West, Illinois and Lincoln Way West, and see what can be done to expedite the <br />installation. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. ` <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion that the Clerk notify the Board of Public Safety to enforce the speed limit at <br />McKinley Terrace Addition and Indiana Avenue from Olive Street going East. Councilman Korpal seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried* <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Council dispense with all business until January 12th, 1953. <br />Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn, which motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Korpal.
