833 <br />L REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 24TH9 1952 <br />RESOLUTION (CONTINUED) <br />THEREF04E, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of South Bend, through the City Council, appropriate such funds as <br />may be necessary from un- pledged parking meter revenue for the hire of a professional and unbiased <br />parking consultant agency, on a bid basis, to conduct a specific study of the city's parking problem <br />and parking needs in ALL suspected critical parking areas within the city of South Bend, and show NO <br />favoritism for any one business segment of our community, and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, if the parking study discloses serious parking needs, that the City of South Bend <br />undertake the development of "short -term" off- street parking facilities, with private enterprise <br />given the first opportunity and every consideration in leasing and operating these off - street parking <br />facilities. <br />Resolved on this day, Monday, October 27, 1952, in the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />SIGNED W. Dan Clark, <br />Restaurateur; Don Wiggins, representing the Industrial Organizations; Eli Miller, Director of Safety Council <br />of the Association of Commerce; Harry Pryweller, owner of the New York Fur Shop, and George N. Beamer• <br />The following opponents appeared before the Council opposing the foregoing resolution: Messrs. Stanley <br />Harmacinski, 1915 Riverside Drive; Doyt Allen; Forrest Harter, 1818 N. O'Brient St.; J. E. Langhan, 511 <br />Harrison. Acenue and Eli Seebirt. <br />By roll call vote, the resolution was lost by 0 ayes - 9 nays. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS: <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion that the Traffic Engineer and City Attorney investigate the parking of trucks <br />blocking the street at the following locations and take immediate steps to correct this condition and report <br />back to the Council at its next meeting on December "8th Armour's, So. Chapin St.; Radio Equipment Co., <br />W. Stull St.; Robertsonts Warehouse, Wayne St.; Malleable Steel & Range Co., So. Cherry St.; and A & K Food <br />Distributors, Inc., So. Fellows St. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />NEW BUSINESS: <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the City Attorney prepare a bill for introduction at the next meeting on <br />December 8th relative to trucks passing through South Bend not attempt to overtake and pass other vehicles* <br />Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Y. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to adjourn, which motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Hahn.
