, <br />OCTOBER 2:75 1941 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the Council <br />Chambers, City Hall, Monday, October-27, 1941, at 7::40 P.M. with all members present. President Richardson presided <br />The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was omitted by unanimous consent. <br />The Clerk read a communication from Mrs. Lyla Maye Crosby Coffman suggesting the posting of bus schedules. The <br />Communication was-ordered referred to the Board of Safety and Traffic Engineer on motion of Councilman Hull, se <br />by Councilman Bishop. <br />A Communication from the River Park Civic Association, Inc., expressing their thanks to the Council for their effo <br />in correcting the dumping situation along the St. Joseph River, was ordered placed on file. <br />PETITION <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />TO THE HONORABLE MEMBERS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, GREETINGS: <br />The undersigned, Northern Indiana Transit, Inc., respectfully petitions your honorable body pursuant to Section 25 <br />of the Zoning Ordinances of the City of South Bend, Indiana the same being Ordinance No. 2331, and represents; <br />That it is the owner of the following described real estate in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana: <br />Beginning at a point on the south line of Lincoln Way East which point is <br />470.25 feet west of the intersection point of the south line of Lincoln Way <br />East and the east line of Section 18 Township 37 North Range 2 East, thence <br />westerly along the south line of Lincoln Way East 796.65 feet; thence south <br />to the north line of the right -of -way of the New York Central Railroad Company; <br />thence east along the north line of the right -of -way of said railroad company <br />790 feet, more or less, to a point directly south of the beginning pointk <br />thence north 141.38 feet to the place of beginning. <br />This petition represents that said land is now zoned by the provisions of the ordinance above referred to as and foz <br />commercial use. <br />That said -land is not now and has not been used for any purpose whatsoever for many years last past; that petitione: <br />has the opportunity at the present time of selling a part of said land for use as a bottling plant which is classi- <br />fied as light industrial. <br />Therefore it respectfully petitions your honorable body to amend the zoning ordinances of the City of South Bend so <br />as to permit said land to be used for light industrial purposes, and to zone the same as alight industrial% <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />NORTHERN INDIANA TRANSIT, INC. <br />By D. "'' <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be referred <br />the Council favorably. <br />LEO M. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Oct. 27, 1941 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance for the emergency appropriation of $80.92 and for <br />the transfer thereof from the general fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana to an account known as D -9, being the <br />office equipment account of the City Treasurer of the City of South Bend, Indiana,; also, for the emergency approp- <br />riation of $129.42 and for the transfer thereof from the general fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana to an <br />account known as D -6, being the repair and rental of equipment account of the City Treasurer of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall go to the <br />Council favorably. <br />LEO M.
