Motion carried. <br />RIVER PARK POST 303, THE AMERICAN LEGION, IN <br />2410 Mishawaka Avenue <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />RESOLUTIONS PERTAINING TO AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING THE REGISTRATION, OPERATION AND LICENSING <br />OF BICYCLES IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND-, STATE OF INDIANA. <br />WHEREAS: The American Legion is a patriotic organization striving for the welfare of the <br />community, State and nation. <br />AND WHEREAS,: The - Legion- safety program is-one of our most important objectives. <br />AND WHEREAS: There are some seven thousend (7000) bicycles in operation in the City of South <br />Bend. _ <br />AND WHEREAS: Of these seven thousand (7,000) bicycles only about fourteen hundred (1,400) <br />are now registered in the city of South Bend. <br />AND WHEREAS: The present city ordinance pertaining to bicycles is outmoded and inadequate. <br />AND WHEREAS: The Parent Teachers Association of the city of South Bend have been endeavoring f <br />some time to secure the passage of an ordinance to remedy the above situation. <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: <br />That RIVER PARK POST NO. 303 AMERICAN LEGION INC. go on record as favoring the <br />proposed ordinance being sponsored by the parent teachers association, pertaining <br />to the licensing of the regulating of the operation of bicycles in the city of <br />South Bend. <br />THAT: There be a_ Juvenile.Court composed of pupils enrolled in the various schools, crested <br />and set-Tip for the enforeements and for instruction of the school pupils of the above <br />proposed ordin ence. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; <br />THAT: A copy of these resolutions be sent to the following; the Mayor of the City of South <br />Bend; President of the Common Council of the city of.South Bend; City Attorney of the <br />City of South Bend; Chief of Police of the city of South Bend; President of the Parent <br />Teachers Association, end to the Commander of each American Legion post in the city of <br />South Bend'. <br />THESE RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED THIS 26 DAY OF Oct., 1938 BY THE AMERICAN LEGION POST NO.303 AT ITS <br />REGULAR MEETING. <br />SIGNED <br />George W.
