<br />RESOLUTION. INTRODUCED BY COUNCILMAN I. W. GRIPE,
<br />WHEREAS, The Supreme Ruler of the Universe has in His Infinite Wisdom called Rev Archibald
<br />McClure to his final reward; and
<br />WHEREAS, the deceased, as the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of the City of South Bend
<br />was loved and admired by his congregation and by all the prople of the City of South Bend for
<br />the nobility of his character and the goodness: of his- life; and
<br />WHEREAS., he: was. an important factor- in the civic life of this community, ever labored for the
<br />general welfare and gave a generous assistance to the, people-of South Bend in all their
<br />uncle rt ak ingm:
<br />.NOW ,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, That said Counci
<br />does x hereby express its deep sorrow at--&-hi'-death and extend its sympathy to the bereaved:
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this:resolution be duly recorded in the Public Records of toe
<br />City of South Bend? and a copy thereof, certified by the- Clerk, be sent to the bereaved family
<br />of the deceased, and another copy be presented to the proper representatives of the First

<br />WHEREAS, practically_all major industries and business establishments -in the City_of_'South
<br />Bend have adopted or expressed their intention of adopting a daylight saving time schedule; and
<br />WHEREAS4. the,olaim is made that such change from standard to so— termed fast time becomes
<br />necessary because advanced time, being-in operation in all leading cities from New York tG Chic
<br />and in aii may surrounding cities and towns, causes inconvenience and-loss to South Bend, in
<br />-a - business : way and
<br />WHEREAS, confusion.and inconvenience will become widespread in the City affecting innumera
<br />-persons and -interests- unless-.the time by, official action is made uniform concerning all city
<br />activities;
<br />NOW,THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved, declared and ordered by the Common Council of the
<br />City-of South Bend, I�ndianaf that the standard time throughout said City, beginning at the hou
<br />of 2 :00 o'clock A D: on April 26th , 1931-and ending at the hour of 2 :00-o clook A M on th
<br />last Monday in September, 1931, shall 'be that of the 75th Meridian of longitude west from Green
<br />-wich; known as Eastern Standard Time, and that municipal offices and all'legal or official pros
<br />ings of the City of South Bend shall be -oo nducted, thereby and when by resolution, ordinance
<br />or order of any municipal officer, or board, or Common Council, an act shall be done or - perform
<br />-at or within a prescribed time, it shall.-be done as herein designated:'-
