This section describes an urban renewal project and the
general objectives of elimination and prevention of the development and spread of slums and blight
and covers the activities of clearance and rehabilitation. This section also discusses residential and
non - residential development.
Section 110(c) was amended by the "Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965" (Public Law 89 -117), which
was approved by the President on August 10, 1965. The change now permits 35% of the additional capital
grants authorized by the 1965 Act to be used for "non - residential exception" projects (commercial and
industrial projects). In 1949 only 10% of capital grants were available for commercial and industrial
projects.
