REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 9T1964 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4707 - -64 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE SOUTH BEND <br />CITY WATER WORKS AND THE B.I.F. DIVISION OF THE NEW YORK <br />AIR BRAKE CO., FOR CONTROL AND METERING EQUIPMENT IN THE <br />SUM OF $4030868.00. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion <br />for suspension of rules. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of <br />8 ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Wise). <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8-'ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Wise). <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4708 - -64 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE SOUTH.BEND <br />CITY WATER WORKS AND WALLACE & TIERNAN, INC., FOR CHLORINE <br />FEEDING EQUIPMENT IN THE SUM OF $1710371.00. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion for <br />suspension of rules. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of <br />8 ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Wise). <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Wise). <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS FROM THE GENERAL <br />FUND TO THE 1963 CITY ELECTION BUDGET ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $11,908.56. <br />Councilman Smith made a motion that the ordinance be referred to the Elections Committee for study. Councilman <br />Geib seconded the motion. After some discussion, Councilman Smith withdrew his motion and Councilman Geib <br />withdrew his second to the motion. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that <br />the ordinance be set for public hearing on November 23, 1964. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO THE SANITATION OF FOOD AND <br />BEVERAGE VENDING, TO LICENSES AND PERMITS APPLICABLE <br />THERETO, ESTABLISHING MINIMUM SANITATION STANDARDS, AND <br />DEFINING TERMS AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT <br />HEREWITH. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Geib made a motion that <br />the ordinance be set for public hearing on November 23, 1964. Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST & SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FROM THE <br />GENERAL FUND TO THE POSTAGE ACCOUNT OF THE OFFICE OF CITY <br />CLERK IN THE AMOUNT OF $600.00. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Geib made a motion that <br />the ordinance be set for public hearing on November 23, 1964. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 84 - -64 <br />RESOLUTION FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE OIL ACCOUNT <br />OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $150.00 AND <br />THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE GASOLINE ACCOUNT IN THE <br />SAME CATEGORY OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT,ALL WITHIN THE <br />GENERAL FUND. <br />Councilman Allen moved that the Resolution be amended in the following manner: <br />In the 3rd paragraph WHEREAS clause, delete the word "supply" and <br />substitute the word "surplus ". <br />Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried. Resolution amended. <br />The Resolution, as amended, reads as follows: <br />RESOLUTION FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE OIL ACCOUNT <br />OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $150.00 AND <br />THE TRANSFER OF THE SAME FROM THE GASOLINE ACCOUNT IN THE <br />SAME CATEGORY OF THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT,ALL WITHIN THE <br />GENERAL FUND, AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, Certain extraordinary conditions have developed since the adoption of the existing annual budget, so <br />that it i s now necessary to appropriate more money than was appropriated in the annual budget for the various <br />functions of City Government to meet such extraordinary contingencies; and, <br />WHEREAS, Additional oil is urgently needed by the Sanitation Department to assure its ability to properly perform <br />its function and the sum of One- hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars is needed forthwith; and <br />WHEREAS, A surplus exists in another account where it is not presently needed at this time; and more specifically <br />as follows, to -wit: <br />1. One- hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars in Account XX -321 designated as <br />Supplies, gasoline. <br />(Continued) <br />
