Motion carried. Councilman Coleman made a motion that the budget for the <br />Sanitation Department be approved, as amended, and go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Allen seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that the Budget for the Street Department be approved and go to the Council as'favorabl( <br />Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that the Budget for the Traffic Department be approved and go to the Council as favor <br />Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />PARK DEPARTMENT <br />Councilman Krueper made a motion to amend Item 73, Land by striking $50,000.00 and inserting $5,000.00, Total Proper- <br />ties by striking $90,460.00 and inserting $45,460.00; Grand Total by striking $911,112.87 and inserting $866,112.87. <br />Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councilman Krueper moved that Item 261 Other Contractual <br />Services $38,236.00 be reduced. Discussion followed and it was decided to leave the item in as it appears but to <br />earmark $30,300.00 for paving of unimproved streets adjacent to parks. Councilman Kroll made a motion that the Budget <br />for the Park Department be approved, as amended, and go to the Council as favorable. Councilman Allen seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />POLICE PENSION FUND <br />Councilman Kroll made a motion that the Budget for the Police Pension Fund be approved and go to the Council as <br />favorable. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND <br />Councilman Kroll moved that the Budget for the Firemen's Pension Fund be approved and go to the Council as favorable. <br />Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />CITY PLAN COMMISSION_ <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the Budget for the City Plan Commission be approved and go to the Council as <br />favorable. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />URBAN REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br />Councilman Kroll moved that the Budget for the Urban Redevelopment Commission be approved and go to the Council as <br />favorable. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />FAIR EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES COMMISSION <br />Councilman Krueper made a motion that the Budget for the Fair Employment Practices Commission be approved and go to <br />Council as favorable. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Krueper made a motion that the Budget for the City of South Bend, Indiana, for the year 1964, go to the <br />Council as favorable, as amended. Councilman Kroll seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />In order to allow the Controller time to compute the Tax Levy on the revised Budget, Councilman Kroll made a motion <br />that the Council recess. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried and the Committee of the Whole <br />recessed at 10:29 P.M. <br />The Committee of the Whole Reconvened at 10:47 P.M. Councilman Lehman, Chairman, was called from the meeting and <br />asked to be excused. Permission granted. Councilman Ladewski was appointed Acting Chairman to complete the hearing. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1964 FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above Ordinance, proponents and opponents were given an <br />opportunity to be heard thereon. <br />City Controller Edwin L. Davies announced that after deletions and deductions in the Budget, the Total Tax Rate would <br />be changed from $2.7917 to $2.7607. Councilman Ladewski made a motion to amend the Tax Levy as follows: General Fund <br />by striking 1.72 and inserting 1.715; Park Maintenance Fund by striking .21 and inserting .29; Urban Redevelopment Bond <br />Fund by striking .07 and inserting .064; Total by striking 2.7917 and inserting 2.7607. Councilman Kroll seeDnded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Ladewski made a motion that the Tax Levy for 1964 be approved as amended and go to the Council as favorable. <br />Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Councilman Ladewski moved to adjourn. <br />Councilman Allen, seconded the motion.
