There being no further business to come before the Special Meeting of the Common Council, Councilman Coleman made <br />a motion to adjourn. Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. Motion carried and the Special Meeting of the <br />Common Council adjourned at 9:59 P.M. <br />ATTEST: <br />CLERK <br />APPROVED: <br />PRESIDENT <br />PUBLIC HEARING MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried at the July 29th meeting of the Common Couhcil the Commit <br />of the Whole Meeting of the Council was set for this date and said meeting to be held in the Morris Auditorium to <br />give Citizens the opportunity to review the proposed budget and Tax Levy and to be heard thereon. <br />The Meeting was called to order by Councilman T. W. Lehman, Chairman, who presided. The time the meeting convened <br />was 7:40 P.M. Upon roll call, all members were present. <br />The Chairman announced that each department would be considered separately and asked the Clerk to read the pro- <br />posed budget. <br />Through the Courtesy of the Minnesota Mining Company, The St. John Business Machines Company and their representa- <br />tive, Jack G. Badger, each department's budget was projected upon a screen making the figures visible for all in <br />the Auditorium. <br />Speaking on the proposed budget were the following: Miss Virginia Guthrie, Executive Secretary of the South Bend <br />Civic Planning Association; Peter Bognar, 807 West Washington Avenue; Mrs. Frederick Mutzl, 320 Parkovash; Paul <br />Boehm, Recreational Director for the Park Department; Richard Krirman, 1118 Queen Street; Ralph Newman, Park <br />Department Superintendent; Henry Sucher, Urban Redevelopment Director; Charles Hahn, 1619 East Colfax Avenue; <br />Richard Kromkowski, President of the Park Commissioners; Janet Allen, 125 West Marion Street; Lewis Haber, South <br />Bend Tribune. <br />Councilman Kroll moved for a five minute recess. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. Motion carried. Meeting <br />recessed at 10 :10. The meeting was reconvened at 10:18 P.M. <br />Also heard were Charles Schultz, 910 E. Donald Street; Joel Bullard, Realtor; Jerry Murphy, 613 California; Lucille <br />Simon; Ed. Perkins, 813 East Woodside; Carl Everly, 1805 Woodmont Drive; Mrs. Genevieve McKee, 529 S. Fellows; <br />Donna Anderson, 1144 Sunnymede; Jack Moulder, 1742 North Brookfield; Jim Heckamer, 522 West Colfax; Charles Borow- <br />ski, 714 East Corby Blvd; Robert Zimmerman, Attorney. <br />All persons who wished to be heard, having been given the opportunity so to do, Councilman Kroll moved that the <br />Public Hearing be continued to the August 26, 1963, meeting of the Council to be held in the Council Chambers in <br />the City Hall.
