Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4591 - - -63 <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR 1964 <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes, 0. nays. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONIES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF ALL <br />BUDGET - OPERATED DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE FISCAL <br />YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1961, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1964, INCLUDING DEPARTMENTS, <br />FUNDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR WHICH MONEY IS APPROPRIATED, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM FUNDS <br />OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FUNDS, OF SAID CITY TO -WIT: STREET, TRAFFIC AND PARK DEPARTMENTS, <br />FIREMEN'S PENSION AND POLICEMEN'S PENSION FUNDS, AND THE CITY PLAN AND URBAN REDEVELOP- <br />MENT AND FAIR EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES COMMISSIONS, BUILDING DEMOLITION, REPAIR AND <br />CONTINGENT FUND, PARK DISTRICT FUND, GENERAL SINKING FUND, HOSPITAL FUND, ART ASSOCIATION <br />FUND AND THE URBAN REDEVELOPMENT BOND FUND: PROVIDING THAT SUCH APPROPRIATIONS SHALL <br />INCLUDE ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS: FIXING THE SALARIES OF ALL CITY OFFICIALS <br />AND EMPLOYEES, REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREIWTH: <br />PROVIDING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT. <br />Councilman Lehman made a motion'that the Clerk read the total of each section instead of each item. Councilman <br />Tellson seconded'the motion. Councilman Allen also seconded-the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />The Clerk then gave the Ordinance its first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Kroll, President <br />announced a five minute recess. The Council recessed at 9:30 P.M. <br />The Council reconvened at 9:45 P.M. <br />Councilman Krueper made a motion that�the annual meeting for the adoption of the budget and tax levy be held on <br />August 26, 1963, at 8:00 P.M. and that there be legal publication in The South Bend Tribune and The Record on <br />August 2nd and August 9th, 1963. Councilman Lehman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Allen moved that the Committee of the Whole meet on August 19, 1963, at 7:30 P.M., at the Morris Civic <br />Auditorium to hold a public hearing on the budget and tax levy for 1964. Councilman Ladewski seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1964 FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in -full. Councilman Coleman made a motion that <br />the Ordinance be set for public hearing on the 19th of August, 1963 in the Committee of the Whole, the meeting to <br />be held in the Morris Civic Auditorium at 7:30 P.M., and that the adoption of the tax levy be on the 26th day of <br />August, 1963 at 8:00 P.M. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION No. 41 - - -63 <br />Resolution relative to the death of Sarah Fletcher Allen. <br />Councilman Muszynski moved for the adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion <br />unanimously carried. Resolution adopted. <br />President Kroll requested the Council to stand for a moment of silent prayer in memory of Sarah Fletcher Allen, <br />daughter of Councilman J. Chester Allen and Mrs. Allen. <br />
