427 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APRIL 23, 1962 <br />RESOLUTION (continued) <br />WHEREAS, it is estimated that between 30% and 50% of the current street repair money is used for the upkeep of <br />unimproved streets, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of all citizens to improve the City and its streets, and <br />WHEREAS, the money now spent in maintaining and repairing unimproved streets can be used for a better purpose. <br />THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Engineer through the City Council initiate a program to pave twelve (12) <br />miles of unimproved streets, one (1) in each councilmanic district in each of the years 1962 and 1963. Said <br />streets are to be selected by the Councilman in whose district the streets are located, the City Engineer <br />and any interested Councilman -at- Large. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in event of a remonstrance of 51% of the people affected the Council agrees to override <br />such remonstrance in order to provide the City with better streets and stop the present drain of tax <br />dollars on unimproved streets, thus allowing these dollars to be better used elsewhere. <br />/s/ Paul E. Councilman Coleman seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Lehman moved -to edjourn...Councilman Ladewski <br />seconded the motion.
