The following action was taken: <br />JULY 10, 1961 <br />After due consideration the Commission found that surrounding land use was predominantly commercial in character and <br />that public welfare would best be served by commercial zoning of subject property. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLANNING COMMISSION <br />The Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />July 10, 1961 <br />The attached petition of Robert Edwards, et al, to annex to the City of South Bend, Indiana the property generally <br />described as being a parcel of land 660 feet north and south by 726 feet east and west at the northeast corner of <br />Edison and Ironwood Roads was legally advertised under date of June 26, 1961 and given public hearing under date of <br />July 6, 1961. The following action was taken: <br />The Commission was of the opinion that the six determinants of annexation exists. Councilman Lehman made a motion for sus- <br />pension of rules. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion lost upon the negative vote of Councilman <br />Coleman. Councilman Lehman made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on July 24, 1961. Councilman <br />Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 3702 <br />(McKinley & Hickory (2) <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Lehman made a motion for <br />suspension of rules. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion lost upon the negative vote of Councilman <br />Coleman. Councilman Lehman made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on July 24, 1961. Councilman <br />Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, CERTAIN LANDS (NE CORNER IRONWOOD DRIVE AND EDISON ROAD - 11 acres more or less) <br />The Ordinance was given first reading,by title and second reading in full. Councilman Lehman made a motion that the <br />Ordinance be set for public hearing on July 24, 1961. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE, FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATIONS IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, <br />$339.00, POLICE DEPARTMENT, $1500.00, FIRE DEPARTMENT, $18,200.00, BOARD OF <br />HEALTH, $1,000.00 <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion that the <br />Ordinance be set for public hearing on August 14, 1961. Councilman Lehman seconded the motion. Motion.carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Lehman made a motion to adjourn. Councilman <br />Glass seconded the motion.
