Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLANNING COMMISSION <br />To the Common Council of <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />the City of South Bend <br />October 7, 1959 <br />The attached petition of Edward Meredith, et al, to rezone Lots 7 -13, inclusive, of Morris Park Addition, located at <br />1601 and 1625 Portage Avenue, from "B" Residential Use and "A" Height and Area District to "C" Commercial Use and <br />11D" Height and Area District was legally advertised on August 24, 1959 and given public hearing under date of <br />September 3, 1959. The following action was taken: <br />RLH /mah <br />Attach. <br />After due consideration the Commission found that ample commercially zoned area <br />existed in the immediate vicinity and that a large amount of this land was not <br />used commercially and that further a large amount of this land was vacant. <br />The Commission therefore found that no need existed for proposed zoning and that <br />said zoning would result in 1) an unwarranted intrusion into a predominantly <br />residential area of commercial use, 2) an unwarranted and undesirable extention <br />of strip zoning. Riggs, et al, to rezone Lots Numbered 113, 114, and 115 in Sorins Second Addition <br />to the City of South Bend, Indiana located at 920 North Frances Street from "B" Residential Use and "A" Height and <br />Area District to "C" Commercial Use and "D" Height and Area District was legally advertised on September 21, 1959 <br />and given public hearing under date of October 1, 1959.
