<br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF FIREMEN
<br />FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1972.
<br />The ordinance was given third reading. Councilman Zielinski made a motion for passage of the
<br />ordinance, seconded by Councilman Craven. There being no discussion on the motion, the ord-
<br />inance was passed by a roll call vote of 9 ayes. (Councilmen Laven, Allen, Craven, Reinke,
<br />Grounds, Szymkowiak, Wise, Palmer and Zielinski) 0 nays
<br />ORDINANCES, SECOND READING
<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
<br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
<br />AND CLOW CORPORATION, BENSENVILLE, ILLINOIS,
<br />FOR THE PURCHASE OF: I. CAST IRON OR DUCTILE
<br />PIPE AND FITTINGS: II. MECHANICAL JOINT GATE
<br />VALVES, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $618,063.13.
<br />The ordinance was given second reading. Councilman Grounds made a motion, seconded by Council-
<br />man Craven, that the ordinance be set for public hearing on July 26, 1971. Councilman Allen
<br />requested that Mr. Hunter p �,�. eavnt the Council with list of items that were used during
<br />the past year. Councilman /aIsio requested an inventory list of the items, and Councilman Laven
<br />inquired if ever before such an ordinance had been drawn to cover a period of three years.

<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
<br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
<br />AND REITH -RILEY CONSTRUCTION CO., INC. OF GOSHEN,
<br />INDIANA, FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A SIXTEEN (16)
<br />INCH WATER MAIN ON SAMPLE STREET BRIDGE IN THE
<br />AMOUNT OF $5,900.00.
<br />Council'-President Laven entertained a motion for suspension of rules. Councilman Palmer so
<br />moved, seconded by Councilman Craven. Roll Call on the motion. Voted 9 ayes, 0 nays.
<br />(Councilmen Laven, Allen, Craven, Reinke, Grounds, Szymkowiak, Wise, Palmer and Zielinski.;'
<br />Councilman Laven said the Public hearing will be held at this time. Mr. John Hunter spoke
<br />on the urgency of this request that Reith Riley the only bidder on the replacement of the
<br />Sample Street bridge are now working on it and while they already have the excavations we
<br />could save approximately $8,097.00 by installing the 16" water main at this time. The ord-
<br />inance was then given third reading. Motion made by Councilman Zielinski for passage, se-
<br />conded by Councilman Craven. The ordinance was passed by a roll call vote 9 ayes, 0 nays.

<br />OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY
<br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR 1972,
<br />AS AMENDED.
<br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Grounds
<br />made a motion, seconded by Councilman Craven that the ordinance be set for public hearing on
<br />July 26, 1971. Motion carried. 9 ayes, 0 nays.

<br />INDIANA, PROVIDING FOR STANDARDS FOR INSTALLATION
<br />OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT GENERALLY.
<br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Reinke
<br />made a motion, seconded by Councilman Palmer that the ordinance be set for public hearing on
<br />July 26, 1971. Motion carried. 9 ayes, 0 nays.

<br />ARDS OF ACCEPTED ENGINEERING PRACTICE OF PLUMB-
<br />ING SERVICES GENERALLY.
