REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 11, 1969 RESOLUTION RESOLUTION NO. 217 -69 WHEREAS, GOD in his Infinite Wisdom, has called from this life, MR. LLOYD BLOUGH, Husband of Kathryn L. Blough, South Bend City Clerk, WHEREAS, his untimely death has brought much grief and sorrow to his bereaved family and many friends, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the members of the Common Council, hereby extend to Kathryn L. Blough, and to the other members of the family, our sincere sympathy in this their deepest hour of sorrow, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a page be set aside in the Council Records of the City of South Bend and this Resolution be copied thereon and a copy be signed by Mayor Lloyd M. Allen Lloyd M. Allen, Mayor South Bend, Indiana The Resolution was unanimously adopted by the Council and placed on file. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Councilman Craven called attention to the issue of trash burning and asked the Council to revive a proposed trash burning control ordinance submitted a year ago by Councilman Szymkowiak. Szymkowiak's proposal would prohibit burning of any trash other than paper and would limit burning to certain hours of the day. Council President Laven asked Craven and Szymkowiak to review the proposed ordinance that has been in Committee since Councilman Szymkowiak presented it a year ago. Councilman Allen asked for a crackdown on "false alarm" fire calls. Councilman Grounds said that since the alarm boxes have been raised the number of "false alarm" calls have been reduced, according to Chief Zura.t. Councilman Allen commented on the lack of communication between the City Recreation Department and a number of residents in South Bend who were quoted as saying in a newspaper article that there aren't enough parks, swimming pools, day care centers, etc. in their area. She said the City does have such recreation for these people in their area and she believes the Director of the Model Cities program in South Bend might be used to get some of these answers to the people. Councilman Szymkowiak announced that a meeting of the Park Board will be held in Newman Center at 8:00 a.m. and a tour of the South Bend parks will be conducted for those attending the meeting. There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Craven made a. motion to adjourn. Councilman Allen seconded the motion. Motion carried. Time: 9:15 p.m. ATTEST: TY APPROVED:
