REGULAR MEETING APRIL 8 1968 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 183 -68 (continued) <br />Councilman Reinke made a motion that the Resolution be adoped by a foil call vote. Councilman Zielinski <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. 7 ayes, (Councilmen Allen, Craven, Reinke, Grounds, Szymkowiak, Palmer, <br />and Zielinski). 0 nayes, 2 absent, (Councilmen Laven and Wise). <br />RESOLUTION NO. 184 -68 <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend is the owner of the following described real estate, to -wit: <br />Lot Numbered Twenty -six (26) Smith Homes <br />Addition, recorded in Plat Book 19, page <br />S in the Office of the Recorder of St. <br />Joseph County, Indiana, <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend has found and declares the above - described real <br />estate is no longer needed for City purposes, and that the said above- described real estate is required <br />by the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment, for furtherance of the development of the Urban <br />Renewal Plan for LaSalle Park Project Ind. R -57 for the development of low and moderate income housing, <br />and to obtain a non -cash grant -in -aid toward said Project, and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend deems it in the best interest of the City of South <br />Bend to transfer and convey said real estate to the Department of Redevelopment for such purposes, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Common Council of the City of South Bend does hereby find and declare that the above - <br />described real estate is no longer needed for City purposes and further finds and declares that the <br />Department of Redevelopment of the City of South Bend is coextensive with the territory of the City of <br />South Bend, and that the above - described real estate should be conveyed and transferred to the City of <br />South Bend_for the use and benefit of its Department of Redevelopment. <br />IT IS FURTHER. RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of South Bend are hereby authorized <br />and directed to execute all necessary documents for the conveyance and transfer of the above- described <br />real estate to the City of South Bend for the use and benefit of its Department of Redevelopment. <br />Adopted this 8th day of April, 1968. <br />/s/ Fredrick D. Motion carried. 7 ayes, (Councilmen Allen, Craven, Reinke, Grounds, Szymkowiak, <br />Palmer, and Zielinski). 0 nays, 2 absent, (Councilmen Laven and Wise). <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Allen asked the Legal Department to review the dead elm removal ordinance and the ordinance on <br />fair employment practices and amend it to prohibit discrimination on account of sex. Councilman Allen <br />requested a communication to the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners to demolish at county cost <br />several substandard structures on property the county owns by virtue of delinquent taxes. Councilman <br />Reinke suggested that the councilmens names appear on the communication. <br />Councilman Grounds commended Fire Chief Cecil C. McHenry on being on the scene at a recent fire in the <br />middle of the night. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilman Allen made a motion to adjourn. <br />Councilman Grounds seconded the motion.
