6V <br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 14, 1974 <br />IIREGULAR MEETING - RECONVENED (CONTINUED) <br />Councilman Taylor talked about the absence of a downtown bus terminal. Mr. <br />of the Department of Redevelopment, stated that a meeting was scheduled for <br />January 15, regarding a shelter. He indicated that estimates would be made <br />and that the Redevelopment Commission was in favor of this. <br />Charles Lennon, <br />Tuesday morning, <br />for some type of <br />Direc <br />shel <br />Councilman Kopczynski asked if there was anything being done about a railroad station for the <br />possible re- establishment of the Amtrak Railroad in the City of South Bend. Mr. William Hojnacki, <br />Director of the Department of Human Resources and Economic Development, talked about the possibili <br />of the re- establishment of the railroad. He indicated that sometime in the future, there would be <br />such a facility along the Grand Trunk track. If it became a realty, there would be a need for a <br />station to serve the area. He stated that the station should be located where it would be <br />accessible to the Penn Central Railroad. He mentioned -that the best location had not yet been <br />determined and the financing had not been discussed. He did indicate that Union Station was not <br />acceptable to the railroads in question. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, unfinished or new, Councilman Miller <br />made a motion that the Council adjourn, seconded by Councilman Taylor..
