REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 14 1974 <br />IIREGULAR MEETING - RECONVENED (CONTINUED) <br />IIORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $116,490.00 <br />FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, <br />COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE <br />SHARING, FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY <br />PROGRAMS, TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY. <br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Kopczynski made a motion that the ordinance be refe <br />to the Public Safety Committee, seconded by Councilman Newburn. The motion carried. (In the <br />unfinished business portion of the meeting, it was also moved, seconded and carried to set the <br />ordinance for public hearing and second reading on January 28, 1974.) <br />IIORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $29,000.00 <br />FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT, <br />COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE <br />SHARING, FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAMS, <br />TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC <br />WORKS. <br />This ordinance had first reading. The <br />motion carried. <br />II nPnTATnRTrV <br />AN ORDINANCE CONFIRMING THE CONTRACT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />THROUGH ITS BOARD OF WASTEWATER <br />COMMISSIONERS AND H. DeWULF MECHANICAL <br />CONTRACTORS, INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$161,706.00 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF <br />A SOLUBLE OIL DISPOSAL FACILITY. <br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Kopczynski made a motion that the ordinance be set <br />for public hearing and second reading on January 28, 1974, seconded by Councilman Parent. The <br />motion carried. <br />11ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF <br />$67,031.67 FROM THE CUMULATIVE SEWER <br />BUILDING AND SINKING FUND TO THE <br />GENERAL IMPROVEMENT FUND AND TO THE <br />CUMULATIVE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND. <br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Taylor made a motion that the ordinance be set for <br />public hearing and second reading on January 28, 1974, seconded by Councilman Horvath. The motion <br />carried. <br />II nRnTMAMrP. <br />AN ORDINANCE TO IMPLEMENT THE FIRST <br />STAGES OF AN OVERALL CITY -WIDE HOUSING <br />STRATEGY FOR THE SOUTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD. <br />I lThis ordinance had first reading. Mr. Charles Lennon, Director of the Department of Redevelopment, <br />requested the Council to make the following amendments to the ordinance: <br />Amend the title to read: An Ordinance appropriating $563,000.00 <br />from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, <br />commonly referred to as General Revenue <br />Sharing, for various housing and rehabili- <br />tation programs, to be administered by the <br />City of South Bend through its Department <br />of Community Development and Redevelopment. <br />Amend the body of the ordinance to include the usual wording in the "Statement of <br />Purposes and Intent" for revenue sharing funds, using the $563,000.00 figure. <br />Amend the body of the ordinance to include distribution of the funds as follows: <br />Contractual Services FA -45 -260.0 (a) the sum of $313,000.00 be allocated <br />for 1974 for acquisition, site clearance and relocation for an area in close <br />proximity to the present Neighborhood Development Program, and <br />Contractual Services FA -45 -260.0 (b) the sum of $250,000.00 be allocated <br />for 1974 for purchases by the city of homes under the Bulk Sales program, <br />and for city -wide rehabilitation grants. <br />Amend the body of the ordinance to include the usual wording as to full force <br />and effect of the ordinance, passage by the Common Council, approval by the <br />Mayor, etc. <br />
