HEALTH & PUBLIC SAFETY JUNE 24, 2013 5:00 P.M. <br />Committee Members Present: Karen White, Dr. David Varner, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Tim Scott <br />Other Council Present: Henry Davis Jr., Valerie Schey, Oliver Davis, Gavin Ferlic, Derek Dieter <br />Others Present: Steve Cox, George King, Erin Blasko, Mark Neal, Kathy Cekanski - Farrand <br />Agenda: Bill No. 22 -13 Honey Bees in City <br />Bill No. 28 -13 Moped Regulations <br />Bill No. 13 -43 Five Year contract to provide EMS City /County <br />Three agenda items were listed on the agenda of the Health & Public Safety Committee. Chairperson <br />Karen White Announced requests to continue the first two items were received. <br />Bill 22 -13 allowing bees to be kept in the city was continued until July 8t" on a motion and seconded <br />from Tim Scott and David Varner which was favored by all. <br />Bill 28 -13 which would establish moped regulations was continued until July 22nd at the request of the <br />petitioner. Again Tim Scott made the continuance motion David Varner seconded and all affirmed. <br />The last item bill 13 -43 was initiated by the South Bend Fire Department and was presented by Fire <br />Chief Steve Cox. Chief Cox said this was a request to ratify an inter -local agreement with St Joseph <br />County to provide EMS ambulance service outside the city. It is a three year agreement only the service <br />area from the last contract for service. The service area was a slightly smaller due to the expansion of <br />PHM township ambulance service to the eastern part of the county. <br />The bill was sent to full Council favorably after a motion to do so was made by Tim Scott seconded by <br />David Varner and supported by all. <br />Dr. Ferlic adjourned the meeting at 5:04 P.M. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Karen L.
