REGULAR MEETING: JULY 22 1974 <br />REGULAR MEETING RECONVENED (CONTINUED) <br />ORDINANCES, FIRST READING <br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4990 -68, <br />AS AMENDED, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING <br />ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />(CHAPTER 40, MUNICIPAL CODE) - east side of <br />Bendix Drive between Green Street and Bonds <br />Avenue. <br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman, Taylor made a motion that the ordinance, along with <br />the petition, be referred to the Area Plan Commission, seconded by Councilman Horvath. The motion <br />carried <br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING <br />CHAPTER 40 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA (intersection of Cushing and <br />Beale Streets). <br />This ordinance had first reading. Councilman Horvath made a motion that the ordinance, along with <br />the petition, be referred to the Area Plan Commission, seconded by Councilman Taylor. The motion <br />carried. <br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $44,800.00 FROM <br />THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT COMMONLY <br />REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING, <br />FOR VARIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY PROGRAMS, TO BE <br />ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY. <br />This ordinance had first, reading. Councilman Newburn made a motion that the ordinance be set for <br />public hearing and second reading on August 12, 1974, seconded by Councilman Taylor. The motion <br />carried.- <br />PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR <br />Miss Virginia Guthrie, Consultant and member of the Board of Directors of the Civic Planning <br />Association, requested that the Council consider sending a resolution to the Congress eliminating <br />the requirement of a - separate - salary ordinance in addition to the regular city budget. <br />Captain Edward Friend, Police; Officer, felt there was a problem with the amendment made to the <br />salary ordinance of the policemen concerning the "base" pay. Councilman Miller indicated that the <br />words "base pay" was not used in the amendment, and he explained the intent of the amendment. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council,.unfinished or new, Councilman`Kopczynsk <br />made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Taylor.
