REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 13_, 1986 <br />WHEREAS, a petition for personal property tax abatement consideration has been P <br />filed with the Common Council of the City of South Bend, requesting that the area 01 <br />commonly known as 1220 S. Main, South Bend, Indiana, and which is more particularly a <br />described by a line drawn as follows: <br />Lots 15 and 16 Stulls 3rd Edition <br />a be designated as an Economic Revitalization Area under the provisions of Indiana <br />Code 6 -1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq.; and <br />g WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Commission has concluded an investigation and <br />prepared a report with information sufficient for the Common Council to determine <br />that the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area under Indiana Code <br />6 -1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq., and has further prepared maps and plats showing the <br />boundaries and such other information as required by law of the area in questions; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee of the Common <br />Council has reviewed said report and recommended to the Common Council that the area; <br />qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. That the Common Council hereby accepts the report and recommendation'. <br />of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee that the area herein <br />described be designated an Economic Revitalization Area and hereby adopts a <br />resolution designating this area as an Economic Revitalization Area for purposes of <br />real property tax abatement. <br />SECTION II. That this designation shall be limited to five (5) calendar years <br />from the date of the adoption of this resolution by the Common Council. <br />SECTION III. That the Common Council directs the City Clerk to cause notice of'- <br />the adoption of this resolution to be published, said publication providing notice E <br />of the public hearing before the Common Council on said declaration. <br />SECTION IV. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after <br />its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />/s/ Beverlie J. Melvin Reed, attorney, <br />indicated he planned to purchase manufacturing equipment to be used in the direct <br />manufacture of Mexican food products. He indicated he planned to hire eight new <br />employees. Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion to adopt this resolution, <br />seconded by Council Member Braboy. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote <br />of nine ayes. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1447 -86 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF S <br />BEND, INDIANA, APPROVING A COMPREHENSIVE ZONING AND <br />LAND USE PLAN FOR THE CITY <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to I.C. 36 -7 -4 -507 and 36 -7 -4 -508, the Area Plan Commission of <br />St. Joseph County, Indiana, has approved a comprehensive zoning and land use plan <br />for the City of South Bend, and has certified such plan to the City of South Bend, a <br />copy of which is on file in the Office of the City Clerk; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to I.C. 36 -7 -4 -509, the Common Council may adopt a Resolution ". <br />approving, rejecting, or amending the Comprehensive Plan by majority vote of the <br />Council and such action is not subject to approval or veto my the Mayor: and <br />;f <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council understands that pursuant to I.C. 36- 7- 4- 509(b), <br />that such a comprehensive plan cannot become effective until a Resolution has been <br />property adopted by the Council; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council further understands that if such a Resolution is <br />adopted, the City Clerk must place one (1) copy of the Comprehensive Plan on file inj <br />the Office of the County Recorder; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is of the <br />opinion that the adoption of such Comprehensive Plan is in the best interests of the <br />citizens and residents of the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,;:= <br />INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />E' <br />
