TEMPORARY FACILITIES AND CONTROLS <br />2024.00254 – Madison Lifestyle District Phase I Utility Design Water Main Replacement <br />015000 - 5 <br />E. Traffic Signs and Signals: <br />1. Provide signs at approaches to Site and on Site, at crossroads, detours, parking areas, and <br />elsewhere as needed to direct construction and affected public traffic. <br />2. Provide, operate, and maintain traffic control signals to direct and maintain orderly flow of <br />traffic in areas under Contractor's control and areas affected by Contractor's operations. <br />3. Relocate signs and signals as Work progresses, to maintain effective traffic control. <br />F. Removal: <br />1. Remove equipment and devices when no longer required. <br />2. Repair damage caused by installation. <br />3. Remove post settings to depth of 2 feet. <br />1.12 FIRE-PREVENTION FACILITIES <br />A. Prohibit smoking within buildings under construction and demolition. Designate area on Site where <br />smoking is permitted. Provide approved ashtrays in designated smoking areas. <br />B. Establish fire watch for cutting, welding, and other hazardous operations capable of starting fires. <br />Maintain fire watch before, during, and after hazardous operations until threat of fire does not exist. <br />C. Portable Fire Extinguishers: NFPA 10; 10-pound capacity, 4A-60B: C UL rating. <br />1. Provide minimum of one fire extinguisher in every construction trailer and storage shed. <br />1.13 BARRIERS <br />A. Provide barriers to prevent unauthorized entry to construction areas and to protect existing facilities <br />and adjacent properties from damage from construction operations and demolition. <br />B. Tree and Plant Protection: Preserve and protect existing trees and plants designated to remain. <br />1. Protect areas within drip lines from traffic, parking, storage, dumping, chemically injurious <br />materials and liquids, ponding, and continuous running water. <br />2. Provide 6-foot-high barriers around drip line, with access for maintenance. <br />3. Replace trees and plants damaged by construction operations. <br />C. Protect non-owned vehicular traffic, stored materials, Site, and structures from damage. <br />1.14 SECURITY <br />A. Security Program: <br />1. Protect Work on existing premises and Owner's operations from theft, vandalism, and <br />unauthorized entry. <br />2. Initiate program in coordination with Owner's existing security system at Project mobilization.
