REG -UL- A= EETIR _ - — - -_ _z �_ - _ - a - — _ - - - MAY -12 -: 194& <br />6s <br />WHEREAS, the location of A E Inc. a new manufacturing industry, into the South <br />Bend area fits into our overall development concept as it will contribute to the <br />restoration and diversification of our industrial base; and <br />WHEREAS, the receipt of a State Investment Incentive Grant will enable the City <br />of South Bend to finance a portion of the production equipment costs necessary to <br />allow A E Inc. to commence operations at their newly constructed manufacturing <br />facility in the Toll Road Industrial Park. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA: <br />SECTION I. Hereby establishes the authority of the Mayor of the City of South <br />Bend to submit a State Investment Incentive Grant application to the Indiana <br />Department of Commerce for the A E Inc. industrial project. <br />SECTION II. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon <br />passage by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and approval by <br />the Mayor. <br />/s/ Beverlie J. Council Member Voorde <br />made a motion to accept the substitute resolution on file with the City Clerk, <br />seconded by Council Member Paszek. The motion carried. Jon Hunt, Director of <br />Economic Development indicated this incentive grant would be used to loan A E Inc <br />monies to purchase machinery and equipment. He indicated the City has already <br />received tentative approval from the State for the grant, however, formal <br />application must be made before the final agreements can be put in place. He <br />indicated that the majority of the $16 million project will be financed through <br />private investment by the company. He indicated the the grant in the amount of <br />$100,000 would be matched locally by a local development agency and will not involve <br />local tax dollars. Council Member Serge made a motion to adopt this resolution, as <br />amended, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The resolution was adopted by a roll <br />call vote of nine ayes. <br />BILLS, FIRST READING <br />BILL NO. 52 -86 A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE <br />SOUTHWEST CORNER OF LINDEN AND CLEMENT IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Serge made a motion to refer this bill <br />to Area Plan, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 53 -86 <br />A BILL TRANSFERRING $119,500.00 AMONG VARIOUS ACCOUNTS WITHIN THE <br />DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Serge made a motion to set this bill <br />for second reading and public hearing May 27, and refer it to the Human Resources <br />Committee, seconded by Council Member Paszek. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 54 -86 A BILL AMENDING THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING A NEW <br />CHAPTER 12, ENTITLED ALARM SYSTEMS. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Puzzello made a motion to set this <br />bill for second reading and public hearing May 27, and refer it to the Public Safety <br />Committee, seconded by Council Member Paszek. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 55 -86 A BILL AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 6, OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL <br />CODE, ENTITLED TAX ABATEMENT PROCEDURES. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Puzzello made a motion to set this bill <br />for second reading and public hearing May 27 and refer it to the Human Resources <br />Committee, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 56 -86 A BILL APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $86,000.00 FROM THE <br />STANLEY COVELESKI REGIONAL BASEBALL STADIUM FUND TO ACCOUNT <br />399.0, OTHER CONTRACTUALS. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Serge made a motion to set this bill <br />for second reading and public hearing May 27 and refer it to the Parks Committee, <br />seconded by Council Member Puzzello. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 57 -86 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $55,500.00 FROM THE <br />FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT FUND COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE GENERAL <br />REVENUE SHARING TRUST FUND FOR THE COVELESKI REGIONAL BASEBALL <br />STADIUM PROJECT. <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Puzzello made a motion to set this bill <br />for second reading and public hearing Mat 27 and refer it to the Parks Committee, <br />seconded by Council Member Paszek. The motion carried. <br />
