3 <br />ANNUAL REPORT 2025 <br />Caleb Bauer <br />ExecuƟ ve Director <br />Department of Community Investment <br />• Provided more than $568,792 in matching grants to acƟ vate and beauƟ fy business exteriors, <br />unlocking $1.2 million in total project costs. <br />• Removed nearly 1.11 million pounds of liƩ er and debris and assisted with 16 neighborhood <br />cleanups. <br />• Led neighborhood planning processes with LaSalle Park residents, River Park residents, and <br />Downtown stakeholders <br />• Facilitated more than $1,000,000 in public and private investment for energy efficiency and <br />solar upgrades to nonprofi t organizaƟ ons. <br />• Generated 32 kW of solar energy generaƟ on potenƟ al through four solar projects, the <br />equivalent of saving over 3,500 gallons of gasoline from being consumed each year. <br />• Invested $90,000 in grassroots, neighborhood-led projects through the IGNITE program. <br />• Organized five Linden Avenue Farmers Markets aƩ ended by 1,900 people. <br />• Acquired several properƟ es for strategic investments, including the Empire Building, Old <br />MarqueƩ e School, and State Theater. <br />• Provided more than $1 million in home repairs for 79 households. <br />• Led a robust engagement process for the Downtown Plan that included more than 500 people <br />who provided input on prioriƟ es and design ideas for the next two decades of investment <br />downtown. <br />• Purchased the Portage Elwood shopping plaza to facilitate comprehensive redevelopment of <br />the former Drewrys Brewery site. <br />• Completed work on The Link Trail, connecƟ ng downtown to the University of Notre Dame. <br />To be truly successful, all projects must reflect community input captured through our <br />neighborhood planning processes and engagement with neighborhood associa Ɵ ons. <br />These are just a small selecƟ on of the many accomplishments of the Community Investment team <br />during the last year – and we look forward to all the new accomplishments in 2026 and beyond. <br />It has been an honor to lead such a talented team, and I am grateful for the ongoing work done by <br />the dedicated public servants in the department. <br />Thank you,
